Did you know that Stradun once looked very different from the street we know today?🏰

Before the great earthquake of 1667, it was lined with luxurious Gothic and Renaissance palaces, many of which were destroyed in the disaster.

During the reconstruction, the houses were rebuilt in a more uniform Baroque style, with shops on the ground floor and living spaces above. That rebuilding shaped the balanced appearance that makes Stradun so recognisable today.

A detail you may have missed 🐕

At the top of the Large Onofrio’s Fountain stands a small stone dog. Dating back to the 15th century, it was placed there as a symbolic guardian of one of Dubrovnik’s greatest achievements, its historic water supply system.

The original sculpture fell from the fountain in the 19th century and is now kept in the Dubrovnik Museums. A faithful replica was returned to its place in 2016 after the fountain’s restoration.

Turistička zajednica grada Dubrovnika, u suradnji s Pixel Design, najavljuje posebno audiovizualno događanje koje će se održati u 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗸, 𝟭𝟵. 𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗻𝗷𝗮, 𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮č𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮, 𝗼𝗱 𝟮𝟭:𝟯𝟬 𝗱𝗼 𝟮𝟯:𝟭𝟱 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶.

Ova večer bit će uvod u novo izdanje Lumiart Dubrovnik - Light Festival, koji će se održati krajem listopada u Dubrovniku. Posjetitelji će saznati datume održavanja festivala, vidjeti novi vizualni identitet i uživati u spoju svjetla, slike, elektroničke glazbe i prostora povijesne jezgre.

Dio ovogodišnjeg festivala bit će posvećen 𝟰𝟬𝟬. 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗷𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶 𝘀𝗺𝗿𝘁𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗶ć𝗮, velikog dubrovačkog znanstvenika, matematičara i fizičara. Njegov rad povezan sa svjetlom, optikom, zrcalima i geometrijom poslužit će kao inspiracija za festivalski program.

💡 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board, in cooperation with Pixel Design, announces a special audiovisual event that will take place on Friday, 19 June, in front of Sponza Palace, from 9:30 PM to 11:15 PM.

This evening will introduce the new edition of the Lumiart Festival of Light, which will take place in Dubrovnik at the end of October. Visitors will find out the festival dates, see the new visual identity and enjoy a combination of light, image, electronic music and the setting of the historic city centre.

Part of this year’s festival will be dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the death of Marin Getaldić, one of Dubrovnik’s most important scientists, mathematicians and physicists. His work connected with light, optics, mirrors and geometry will serve as inspiration for the festival programme.

The production and technical ex*****on of the event are by Pixel Design.

Dubrovnik će biti posljednja postaja njihove ovogodišnje turneje po Sloveniji i Hrvatskoj, nakon nastupa u Ljubljani i Zadru.

Chicago Consort okuplja mlade glazbenike iz Chicaga, u dobi od 13 do 18 godina, koji djeluju pri Western Springs School of Talent Education i Naperville Suzuki School. Tijekom više od četiri desetljeća rada ansambl je nastupao na pet kontinenata i gostovao u više od dvadeset zemalja svijeta.

Dubrovačka publika imat će priliku uživati u programu koji donosi klasična djela, ali i suvremene skladbe, povezane temama radosti, zahvalnosti i slavljenja života.

Koncert se održava u organizaciji ACFEA-e i glazbene udruge WE ARE SINGING.

Dubrovnik will be the final stop of their 2026 tour through Slovenia and Croatia, following performances in Ljubljana and Zadar.

Chicago Consort brings together young musicians from Chicago, aged 13 to 18, who study at the Western Springs School of Talent Education and Naperville Suzuki School. Over more than four decades, the ensemble has performed on five continents and visited more than twenty countries worldwide.

The Dubrovnik audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a varied programme featuring classical works and contemporary pieces, connected by themes of joy, gratitude and the celebration of life.

The concert is organized by ACFEA and the music association WE ARE SINGING.
