Ambassador François Lafrenière and the Trade Commissioner Service were on hand to welcome the June 6 arrival of Air Canada’s first direct flight from Toronto to Budapest over the weekend – the sky’s the limit when connecting diaspora, businesses and tourism on both sides of the ocean, and a testament to the strong relations between Hungary and Canada. Thanks to Zsolt Tárkányi, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Investment, for joining us on this special occasion.

Canada’s defence sector was front and centre during the Canada–EU SAFE Conference in Budapest May 2026, organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hungary. Key speakers included the Personal Representative of the Prime Minister of Canada to the EU John Hannaford, Ambassador François Lafrenière, and Colin Barker, Global Affairs Canada Defence Exports Division. The Trade Commissioner Service was pleased to welcome clients and promote Canadian defence capacities and interests.

A kanadai védelmi szektor kiemelt szerepet kapott a 2026 májusában Budapesten megrendezett Canada–EU SAFE konferencián, amelyet a Magyarországi Kanadai Kereskedelmi Kamara szervezett. A fő előadók között szerepelt John Hannaford, a kanadai miniszterelnök személyes EU-s képviselője, François Lafrenière nagykövet, valamint Colin Barker, a Global Affairs Canada védelmi exportosztályának képviselője. We were honoured to welcome Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Victor Fedeli to Hungary. Discussions highlighted the potential to expand cooperation in innovation, investment, defence and trade. Thanks to the Hungarian agencies for their partnership.

Canadian-Hungarian artist Mimi Kókai’s “tangible-self” exhibition is welcoming visitors at Pannónia House in Vác until July 5. At the exhibition opening, Ambassador François Lafrenière highlighted how Mimi’s creativity brings together perspectives shaped by both Hungarian and Canadian cultures.
