The Second Round of Bangladesh–Indonesia Foreign Office Consultations was successfully held in Jakarta on 13 April 2026 in a cordial and forward-looking atmosphere. The Bangladesh delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Ambassador Asad Alam Siam, while the Indonesian side was led by Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, Director General of Asia, Pacific and African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.
The consultations provided a comprehensive platform to review bilateral relations and discuss key regional and global issues of mutual interest. Both sides held wide-ranging discussions on trade, investment, energy, agriculture, health, digital economy, connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Bangladesh invited increased Indonesian investment in high-potential sectors and both countries agreed to strengthen trade facilitation and economic cooperation. They also emphasized enhanced connectivity, including easing visa procedures and exploring direct flight options, while reaffirming shared commitments to regional cooperation and sustainable development.
On the sidelines, Foreign Secretary Siam met Vice Minister Muhammad Anis Matta and underscored the importance of continued high-level engagements between the two countries.
