Knowledge, research, and practical innovation are essential to building a more resilient and sustainable pepper and spice sector.
With this shared perspective, the International Pepper Community (IPC) and Udayana University signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding on 24 September 2026 at the Udayana University Campus in Jimbaran, Bali.
The IPC delegation, led by Executive Director Ms. Marina Novira Anggraini, was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Made Sucipta, S.T., M.T., IPM., Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information**, together with the university leadership.
The MoU provides a framework for cooperation in education, research, community engagement, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and other mutually agreed initiatives. It is intended to bring academic expertise closer to the evolving needs of the pepper and spice sector and to encourage collaboration that can translate knowledge into practical value.
Relevant experiences, research outcomes, and approaches emerging from this partnership may also offer useful references for other IPC Member Countries, where appropriate and subject to their respective priorities, concerns, institutional frameworks, and national policies.
Through closer engagement between academia and the international pepper community, this partnership aims to strengthen connections among research, policy, industry, and sustainable sector development, while supporting wider knowledge-sharing and innovation across the pepper and spice value chain.
