𝗘𝗞𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗗 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗜𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹

EKONID launched its first Company Call, a new dialogue format bringing German member companies together for regular exchanges on Indonesia's economic and business developments, as well as opportunities for cooperation and support.

The session featured a general update from Mr. Oliver Sperling, Deputy German Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN, followed by updates on economic and business developments from Dr. Monika Erath, Executive Director of AHK Indonesia/EKONID, and a macroeconomic update from Mr. Oliver Döhne, Regional Director of Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI).

The EKONID team also shared updates on regulatory developments, tenders, and upcoming activities, presented by Ms. Nurul Khasbullah and Mr. Stephan Blocks. The session concluded with an exchange of perspectives, providing member companies with an opportunity to discuss current business challenges, priorities, and potential areas for cooperation.

Fact-Finding Mission to Germany: ASEAN Power Grid | 15–19 March 2027

Welcome to Jakarta, Indonesia, to the delegation of the German Bundestag's ASEAN Parliamentary Group ASEAN.

As part of their visit to Indonesia, the delegation started the day with a briefing at the EKONID office, providing together with the German Embassy in Jakarta and GTAI an opportunity to discuss Indonesia's political and economic developments, business environment, and market opportunities.

We wish the delegation a productive and insightful visit in Indonesia that will further strengthen German-Indonesian relations.

On 16 October 2026, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs announced changes to Indonesia’s mandatory timelines.

Key changes:

• 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗯𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: certification from 18 October 2028.

• 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶-𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗔 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: transition extended to 17 October 2028.

• 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀: transition for food, beverages, slaughtered products and slaughtering services extended to 17 October 2028.

𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱: over-the-counter medicines (17 October 2029) and prescription medicines excluding psychotropics (17 October 2034).

The government also announced the planned revocation of BPJPH Regulation No. 4/2026 concerning foreign halal products entering Indonesia.

The adjustments are expected to be formalized through an 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼. 42/2024 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗔𝘀 𝗼𝗳 19 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 2026, 𝗕𝗣𝗝𝗣𝗛, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

As the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, Indonesia has made halal certification an important part of its regulatory framework for products entering and circulating in its market.

With 18 October 2026 marking the next phase of Indonesia’s mandatory halal certification requirements under Government Regulation No. 42/2024, businesses should review their applicable obligations and timelines to ensure compliance.

Indonesia’s halal certification framework covers a broad range of products and services, including:

Products: Food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics, chemical and biological products, genetically engineered products, consumer goods, and other regulated categories.

Services: Slaughtering, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and serving.

Requirements and implementation timelines vary by product or service category. Not all categories become subject to mandatory certification on 18 October 2026. Specific provisions may also apply to imported products.

The event programme also featured Mr. Martin Fahling, Managing Director International Trade IHK Reutlingen, for the opening remarks and a presentation from Mr. Carsten Sørensen, Head of Trade and Economic Section at the EU Delegation to Indonesia.

After nearly a decade of negotiations, the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) is progressing towards signing and ratification. The agreement is expected to create new opportunities for trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Indonesia and the EuropeanUnion.

EKONID will continue to follow developments closely and share further updates as they become available.
