📽️ From meetings with senior leaders, to coffee with future ones, and early morning jogs along Dili's waterfront, it was a pleasure to visit Timor-Leste and see Australia’s support in action.

As ASEAN's newest member, Australia is working with Timor-Leste to shape a peaceful, stable & prosperous region, with ASEAN at its centre.

Obrigado, Timor-Leste!

(Disability-Inclusive National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Operational Guidelines)

Victims of trafficking with disabilities often face greater challenges getting the support and protection they need. ♿💙 National protection systems must work in practice, not just on paper.

🤝 Supported by Australia through the ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking program, the Good Friends Association convened social workers, protection specialists, law enforcement and people with lived experience to validate Thailand's draft Disability-Inclusive National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Operational Guidelines.

🗣️ A trafficking survivor with a disability shared their experiences and insights, helping to shape practical improvements to the guidelines.

🔍 Realistic simulations covering different disability profiles, helped participants test Thailand's referral and protection procedures, identify gaps and challenges, and shape practical improvements to finalise the guidelines.

When persons with disabilities, survivors and other stakeholders help shape protection systems, trafficking responses ensure that no victim is left behind.

Australia continues to partner with governments and organisations to combat trafficking, share intelligence and support victims of trafficking in persons.

This week in Indonesia, stakeholders from across gathered to validate new regional tools designed to strengthen responses to trafficking.

📱 As trafficking into online scam operations grows across Southeast Asia, identifying victims accurately and consistently is more important than ever.

Led by through a unique partnership between the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC), these tools are shaped through an inclusive, evidence-based process that brings together police, prosecutors, judges, civil society and lived experience experts.
