Indian Mission to ASEAN

The External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar along with the Ambassador, met with Secretary General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn this morning. They discussed taking forward India's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Our agenda focused on connectivity, food, security, and trade.

A warm welcome to ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on his first official visit to India. An opportunity to further strengthen India-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Ambassador underscored the importance of Hon’ble PM’s participation at the 20th ASEAN-India Summit, on the eve of G-20 Summit in India, and the Hon’ble PM’s 12 Point Agenda in furthering the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Ambassador called on SecGen of ASEAN, H.E. Dr Kao Kim Hourn, at the ASEAN Secretariat. They reviewed the status of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed the preparations for ASEAN SG’s upcoming Working Visit to India in February 2024.

During his intervention in a meeting between ERIA, ASEAN PRs, and Ambassadors of Dialogue Partners held today, Ambassador complimented ERIA on its participation in the relevant G20 meetings during India's presidency last year and thanked ERIA for undertaking research activities for enhancing digital and physical connectivity between India and ASEAN.

Ambassador met with H.E. Mr. Ekkaphab Phanthavong, DSG of ASEAN today. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest under ASEAN Socio-Culture Community, including The ASEAN Magazine, National Cancer Grid and scholarships offered by India under various projects and schemes.
