Noel O’Gara is a frequent traveller to the Far East and his Thai wife booked a flight from Bangkok to London just a week before the MH370 disaster. Like millions more he took an interest in the mystery disappearance of a jumbo jet that followed, noting the confusion and lies of the authorities. His belief in their statements was shattered when after four days it was revealed that they knew that the plane had turned back and crossed the peninsula into the Malacca Strait while they kept all the volunteer searchers in the South China sea knowing it was not there. After that came a litany of fabrications and lies from several senior government sources and nobody ever called them out. As a result of his insight into how higher authorities behave in cases they need to cover up, he recognised that any individual in the Malaysian military, air force or air traffic control who witnessed the events or was a party to the downing of MH370 could not possibly step forward and tell what he saw without being exposed to ridicule, treason charges and threats to his family and worse. But 239 people were murdered and deserve to be remembered and respected and their lovers family and friends are all victims too who carry this burden for the rest of their lives.
