Fiji Mission in Jerusalem Hosts Successful Webinar to Promote Fiji as a Premier Destination for Israeli Travelers.

JERUSALEM - The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jerusalem, in collaboration with Israel's Association of Travel Agencies & Consultants (ITTAA), successfully hosted a dedicated webinar today, connecting Fiji's tourism experts with over 50 Israeli travel agents, tour operators, and marketers. The virtual event aimed to showcase Fiji's diverse appeal and strengthen tourism ties between the two nations.

Ambassador Jesoni Vitusagavulu opened the webinar by highlighting the deepening bilateral ties between Fiji and Israel, underscored by the historic establishment of diplomatic missions in both capitals, Fiji's Embassy in Jerusalem, which opened in September 2025, and Israel's Embassy in Suva, which opened in June 2026. Ambassador Vitusagavulu noted that this closer relationship provides an exceptional platform for pursuing mutually beneficial opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment.

The main presentation was led by Tourism Fiji managers, Mr. Antonia Racika (Regional Support) and Ms. Mereoni Rakuro (Destination Experience). The presenters delivered a comprehensive overview, effectively showcasing Fiji as an ideal destination catering to a wide spectrum of travelers, ranging from budget-conscious explorers to seekers of sophisticated luxury.

The event resonated strongly with industry professionals in attendance. ITTAA Executive, Ms. Karen Bar, commented on the webinar, calling it a "great webinar" that received "a lot of positive feedback from the participants."

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Guy Thaler, Marketing Director for Tal Aviation, the largest General Sales Agent (GSA) in Israel remarked that the webinar was "built perfectly" and praised the opening remarks as "very warm, welcoming and friendly."

Adding a personal touch to the professional gathering, a participant who spent two weeks vacationing in Fiji in 2008 shared her firsthand experience, telling attendees that her time in Fiji was "one of the best times in my life."

Looking ahead, Ambassador Vitusagavulu shared that this webinar marks the inaugural event in a planned series of initiatives by the Embassy to promote Fiji across Israel. The strategic outreach aims to grow visitor arrivals from Israel from 585 in 2025 to 1,500 by 2027.

🌾 Empowering Fiji’s Agricultural Sector: Celebrating the Achievement of the Agricultural Internship Program in Israel. 🇫🇯🤝🇮🇱

JERUSALEM, Israel - 04 October 2026: Today, H.E. Jesoni Vitusagavulu and the Embassy Team were honored to attend the graduation ceremony for the 14 Fijian agricultural interns at the Ramat Negev International Training Center (RNIT). A testament of the growing Fiji-Israel bilateral relations.

Graduating alongside their fellow international agricultural interns from other countries, these 14 Fijian students completed an intensive program rooted in a practical learn-by-doing approach. By mastering advanced irrigation, arid-climate farming, and modern agri-tech directly in the field, our students are returning equipped with practical, high-impact skills designed to modernize Fiji’s agricultural sector and bolster national food security.

In a testament to their exceptional dedication, 9 of the 14 Fijian graduates will remain at RNIT for an advanced second academic year, further enhancing their practical specialization and capacity.

H.E. Vitusagavulu, in his remarks at the graduation ceremony, extended the profound gratitude of the Government of the Republic of Fiji, to the Government of the State of Israel, for its unwavering support and commitment towards this valuable program. He also urged the Fijian graduates to take the practical knowledge acquired in Israel back home to innovate and transform Fiji’s agricultural sector.

The Fiji Mission in Jerusalem continues to maintain an active role in both expanding the program and supporting our students on the ground. Prior to attending the graduation ceremony, Ambassador Vitusagavulu and the Embassy Team visited the newly arrived 20 Fijian agricultural interns based in Yotvata that arrived in August. The visit was aimed at providing moral support and encouragement as they commence their agricultural internship program in Israel. The Mission anticipates the arrival of another 50 agricultural interns from Fiji in November 2026.

🇫🇯 Fiji Embassy Marks One-Year Milestone in Jerusalem with Address at Ariel University, Israel 🇮🇱

JERUSALEM, September 17, 2026 - The Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to the State of Israel, H.E. Mr. Jesoni Vitusagavulu, addressed a gathering of faculty and students from the Department of Middle Eastern Studies and Political Science at Ariel University Jerusalem. Speaking alongside Ambassador Ines Demiri of Kosovo, Ambassador Vitusagavulu shared insights on foreign policy, diplomacy, and the unique strategic and diplomatic challenges faced by small states.

The address coincided with the first anniversary of the establishment of Fiji's diplomatic mission in Jerusalem on September 17, 2025. Reflecting on the milestone, Ambassador Vitusagavulu noted that the Fiji Mission in Jerusalem represents Fiji's 14th diplomatic post globally, created specifically to unlock the enormous potential for bilateral cooperation between Fiji and Israel across agriculture, tourism, investment, exports, and labor mobility.

Describing Israel as a highly resilient and advanced economy, larger than New Zealand and comparable in scale to Australia, two of Fiji's major traditional trading partners, the Ambassador emphasized that ongoing diplomatic and economic engagements are already yielding tangible, positive outcomes.

Key achievements and upcoming initiatives highlighted during the address include:

📍Agricultural Training and Internships: 20 additional students arrived in August to attend an 11-month agricultural internship program, with another 50 expected in November 2026.

📍Labor Mobility and Caregiving: An MOU to bring 1,500 caregivers from Fiji over the next 12 months is currently being finalized, with the inaugural cohort of 25 caregivers expected to arrive by December 2026.

📍Tourism Expansion: Efforts are actively underway to grow tourist arrivals from Israel to Fiji, currently standing at 585 visitors, with a targeted increase to over 1,500 visitors in 2027. Initiatives include raising awareness of Fiji as a prime travel destination for Israelis, such as a dedicated webinar for travel agents and tour operators scheduled for October 6.

📍Trade and Commercial Exports: While geographic distance presents logistical challenges for importing bulk goods, high-value Fijian products continue to make headway. Notably, following the recent appointment of an official distributor, Fiji Water will soon be available in retail stores across Israel. Additionally, a trade and investment seminar will be held on October 14, preceding a reception to celebrate Fiji's Independence.

Concluding the address, Ambassador Vitusagavulu expressed deep satisfaction with the progress achieved during the Mission's inaugural year and underscored optimism for deeper partnerships, mutual economic growth, and enduring diplomatic ties between Fiji and Israel in the years ahead. 🇫🇯🤝🇮🇱
