Ganitam- 2026
Department of Mathematics, Gujarat University with the help of Prof. P C Vaidya Sanman Nidhi Trust organised two days international conference “Ganitam-2026” on Recent Advances in Mathematical Sciences on 31 Jan-01 Feb 2026.
More than 200 participants from around 12 different states of the country participated in this conference. We had around 175 papers and many posters and 17 internationally reputed expert speakers.
We had 15 research tracks with prizes given in all the tracks and a Souvenir book was also published.
We also organized a function of our alumni association GUDMAA.

The Department of Mathematics marked 'Pi Approximation Day' with enthusiasm and intellect, guided by HoD, Prof. Ravi Gor.

Faculties - Prof. N P Shrimali, Shri K. V. Thaker and students came together to share insightful thoughts, explore the significance of π (22/7), and even unveil some lesser-known facts. It was truly inspiring to see the active participation not only from our Sem-3 students but also the newly admitted Sem-1 students, who showcased their knowledge and curiosity with great spirit!

Department of Mathematics organised INVESTOR AWARENESS talk on 12 September 2024.
More than 70 participants attended the talk.

The department is organising a talk on Investment Awareness on 12 September at 11:00 AM.
This talk will be one of the series of talks on subjects not directly related to your course but very helpful for your day-to-day routine life.
We expect to hold such talks more often and likewise expect full attendance from students to reap maximum benefit from such talks from industry experts.

Five of my research scholars successfully defended their PhD viva voce this week on 03-04 May 2024.
Out of that, 3 scholars were the first batch of scholars from the School of Emerging Science and Technology’s Department of Applied Mathematical Science, Actuarial Science and Analytics.
A wonderful journey with all of them through these years.
Best wishes to all of them for all their future endeavours.

I have been able to supervise 11 students from the Mathematics Department Gujarat University till now and 3 from Applied Mathematical Science Department, bringing total number of research scholars who have completed PhD under my supervision to 20.

Students and faculty also took the 'Voting Pledge' in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.

Blood Donation Camp Organized by Department of Mathematics, Gujarat University: In the 75th year of the University, 75+ units of blood were collected on 19th February, 2024.

While various celebrations are being held throughout the year on the occasion of Paras Parva of Gujarat University, a blood donation camp was organized as a joint initiative of the University's Department of Mathematics and Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad; in which a large number of postgraduate level students from various departments of the university participated. Foreign students, studying in the university, also enthusiastically donated blood.

Around 80 students and staff members were eligible for blood donation after various tests related to age, weight, hemoglobin and health. President of Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad Dr. Harshad Shah and General Secretary Dr. Vishwas Amin provided full support and resources in setting up the camp. All the blood donors were gifted with a certificate and a coffee mug by the Red Cross Society. And especially those female students who could not donate blood due to low hemoglobin were given necessary medicines and medical advice.

On this occasion, Hon. Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University Dr. Neerja Gupta was a special presence. She cheered up all those present and congratulated the students and the organizers for making such a social contribution to the university's 75th anniversary celebration of "Paras Parv."

Head of Mathematics Department Prof. Nita H. Shah said that this year the university has entered 75th year while the Department of Mathematics has also entered 65th year, so we are trying to collect at least 65 or 75 units of blood on this occasion. And we are happy that we got more than 75 blood donors. Our goal is to make students more aware of the importance of blood donation from an early age and to reinforce their feeling of social responsibility.
