It was a privilege to host Mr. Stefan Priesner, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, United Nations India and his family at our Department of Tourism Dr BAMU. during their visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora. .ragde Rajesh Ragde welcomed them.
Our discussion focused on the transformative power of tourism in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We discussed how rural tourism and women’s empowerment can drive socio-economic impact.He was pleased to see how our MTTM curriculum directly integrates with SDGs global objectives.
Mr. Priesner’s keen interest in India’s heritage and its sustainable future truly reinforces the vital link between academic excellence and global development.

Colloquium on Buddhist Art and Architecture was organised by the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University’s Gautam Buddha Study Centre in association with the Department of Tourism Administration on 16 December 2025. The Colloquium aimed to enrich the intellectual horizons of students, research scholars, and faculty members through engagement with contemporary developments in Buddhist studies and related interdisciplinary fields.
The colloquium convened by Dr Madhuri Sawant Director GBSC was inaugurated by G. D. Khedkar, Director, IQAC, BAMU.
The colloquium featured distinguished keynote addresses by eminent scholars. Dr. Kiran Shinde, Cultural Heritage and Tourism Expert and Former Head, Planning Program, La Trobe University, delivered an insightful lecture on “The ‘New World’ of Buddhist World Heritage Sites in India and Nepal.” Dr. Manager Singh, Eminent Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, spoke on Heritage Conservation and Accessibility and Dr. Rajesh Ragde, discussed on the Planning of Buddhist Heritage.
The colloquium witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and scholars, including students from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, adding an important inter-institutional and interdisciplinary dimension to the academic exchange.
On the occasion of World Heritage Week, students of Masters in Tourism Management participated in a solemn oath-taking ceremony, affirming their dedication to the conservation and ethical management of heritage sites.

Antara Paikrao and Ajaykumar Raut Qualified UGC-NET in Tourism Administration.
In the UGC-NET eligibility test for Assistant Professor in Tourism Administration conducted by the University Grants Commission, two students of the recently passed MTTM 2025 batch, Antara Dilip Paikrao and Ajaykumar Vishnu Raut, from the Department of Tourism Administration of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, have achieved great success, Antara Paikrao has qualified for PhD while Ajaykumar Raut has qualified for Assistant Professor and PhD.
Director BAMU DTA Prof Dr Rajesh Ragde & Dr Madhuri Sawant, Dr Tushar Tingote along with the Research Scholars and students have congratulated them on their grand success.
