Statement of Solidarity with the Students & Youth of Sri Lanka.
The neighbouring country Sri Lanka which is going through extreme economic and political crisis symbolises the unending death agony of Capitalism. The people particularly the youth of the country have shown the extreme tenacity to challenge the corrupt system and have successfully brought down the Gota-Mahinda regime and made them flee the country for a period.
Ranil Wikrematunga who replaced Gota as president, unable to resolve the crisis has unleashed repression on the youth and the working class in a brutal way. The youth movement is facing up to this challenge valiantly in the last few weeks. This struggle needs solidarity and support from all the struggling progressive sections internationally, particularly in the neighbouring country;India.
New Socialist Alternative (CWI-India) unequivocally condemns the repression unleashed by the ruling regime of Sri Lanka. We stand in solidarity with the youth & the working class of the Island country and appeal to the wider sections of the Trade Unions and progressive sections to show their active solidarity by observing 9th November ‘22 as the International Day of action in support of the struggling fighters in Sri Lanka.

Protest against
There was a protest on 22nd December in Bengaluru against the "Anti-Conversion Bill-2021" which the communal BJP government in the state has set out to implement. Hundreds of youth, women and religious minorities gathered at the protest rally unanimously demanded the repeal of the anti-constitutional ‘Anti-Conversion Bill-2021’.
The protesters expressed outrage that the communal agendas of the RSS-BJP were becoming laws and attacking the rights of religious minorities.
The BJP's center and the state government faced massive protests across the country last year when it set out to implement CAA/NRC/NPR bills targeting Muslims. As a furtherance of this, the protesters said that the implementation of the Anti-Conversion bill targeting Christians, Muslims and other minorities in the name of the “Anti-Conversion” was a very horrifying situation.
The BJP government, which is implementing the Karnataka Religious Freedom Rights Protection Bill-2021ʼ in the name of Religious Protection, alleged that the act contained a conspiracy to curtail the right to choose freedom to practice any religion, conversion or denial of religions. They demanded that the Anti-Conversion Bill-2021, which is inhuman, un-constitutional and barbaric, be withdrawn immediately.
They said that even though the official figures of the government have reported that there are no forced/stressful/lure conversions in the country. The sangh parivar's false-slander agendas are becoming laws now a days. It is very dangerous development.
It is condemnable that communal forces are today attacking religious minorities and Dalits in all states and places. The issue of ‘Mass conversion and the declining population of Hindus’- these are the sangh parivar's false-slander agendas. Over the past 6 months, 18 churches have been attacked by sangh parivar thugs. Thousands of victims of the Kandamal massacre in Orissa and Muzaffarnagar riots in Uttar Pradesh still live under the shadow of fear and expressed outrage that justice was also a mirage for them.
Members of the ‘New Socialist Alternative’ participated in the protest rally and supported the agitation and said that the need for a massive working class-led struggle is what is needed today to repel communal forces that are fatal to the unity of the workers.

The leaflet that we have produced to intervene in the 27th September All India Bandh called by the 40+ peasant organisations from all over India. The hundreds of thousands of farmers have been on sit-in agitation against the various detrimental legislations introduced by the BJP led regime. The move through these legislations is to introduce ruthless and aggressive capitalist agriculture favouring few corporate giants who are close to the regime.
There is a simmering yet growing massive discontent in the country against the Modi regime, this could have been an opportune moment to go all out against the regime by bringing out the working class into action through a General Strike alongside the militant peasantry.
The irony is the leadership of the working class and even of the peasantry still pipedream that there is still more room for negotiations with the ruling class. It is high time that a decisive battle has to be waged by uniting all the struggling forces by putting forward a class alternative before them.
