Our for has ended and the last 45 days have taught us life lessons which we can never forget.
166 people helped us reach a sizeable amount of funds by coming together and contributing to take our final to a total of INR 5,01,383/ which is 10 times our starting goal of INR 50,000/
The way our family, close friends and acquaintances helped us is in itself a great feat and our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to each and everyone who made this happen also by sharing on their profiles and pages🙏🙏
This campaign was completely done via whatsapp, instagram and facebook , the and is immense and that we realized first hand when it is put to good use.
Our thanks to The Assam Tribune, our state's leading English Daily for featuring our campaign and we hope that this will motivate more and more people to come forward and take the next step.
Sometimes, all it takes is the one step and then you find there are many people who appreciate, motivate and help you all along the way.
Many friends and acquaintances who we had not been in touch with for ages came forward to help us and I personally cannot thank you enough for your good wishes towards us and the cause.

Thank you! Thank you and thank you!
Delighted to share that we have achieved our dream target and raised INR 5,00,000/ + solely through a in support of with 6 days to spare!!
This has only been possible because of the massive outpouring of love, care and support for our cause from family, friends, colleagues and many individuals who wish to remain anonymous.

What started off with an initial Goal of Rs. 50,000/ to be achieved in 45 days during these trying times has now been achieved 10 TIMES over!!!

This entire contribution, minus the payment gateway charges will go to Rapid Response to help support the relief and rehabilitation work that is currently under way in some of 's worst affected areas.

This year the floods in Assam have affected close to 57 lakh (5.7 million) people, taken 113 human lives directly due to floods, 26 human lives due to landslides. 30 districts out of 33 in Assam comprising of 5, 378 villages and a total of 2,65,601.60 hectares of crop area were affected directly as a result of this deluge. (SOURCE: Cumulative Floods Report, 25.08.2020)
The current greatly reduced the number of organizations and volunteers on the ground and therefore this idea was born to ensure people and organizations working on the ground feel supported with funds.
Our best wishes to Rapid Response and to the flood affected and we hope this small effort from our side will help and assist human lives.
Thank you tIndiatimes , G Plus , Red FM and My Malishka for featuring our campaign and talking about it. A big thank you to G.A.P for their collaboration and contributing their ticket sales from . Massive thanks to all the friends, family and acquaintances who shared our on their social media handles and pages. We are deeply grateful.

The devastation and the threat is not yet over in parts of Assam. Today morning, The Brahmaputra again rose in upper Assam.

Despite these floods being an annual occurrence, this year the situation has further worsened due to the ongoing pandemic. In situations such as this, the ground level nodal agencies and humanitarian organizations need funding to ensure relief and rehabilitation along with basis necessities do not fall short.

An RTI by Commodore Batra has highlighted that since 2013, Assam has not received any funds from NDRF for flood relief, writes Sanjoy Hazarika in an article published in The Assam Tribune.
Excerpts from the main article's salient points and script of the full article.

Attached is the screen shot of Daily Cumulative Flood Report in Assam as per ASDMA as on 9th August, 2020 evening.
The flood situation has improved in the State and now the relief and rehabilitation work starts to help assist the affected communities in over 30 districts.
Funding is essential to ensure relief and rehabilitation work continues without any pause. Please continue to support and we encourage everyone to spread the word and continue with funding efforts.

An enriching article backed by voices from the ground and researchers on the crisis.
Despite having a system in place for more than 11 years, the loss of life, destruction of property continues to grow and affect communities.
As pointed out by a Northeast Environment Researcher during our earlier Insta Live https://www.facebook.com/Crowdfundingforassamfloods2020/posts/111667027303962 , The Brahmaputra river is one of the least researched water bodies. There has been consistent lack of funding and resources for research work over the years. Band aid arrangements without studying the problem and consulting the local communities has resulted in this devastation becoming colossal in nature with the state loosing land yearly as big as the size of Goa to river erosion!
Millions of people, communities and most importantly livelihoods are affected and this continues. Knowledge is key to understanding and solving issues. More research work, involvement of local community and traditional knowledge systems, transparency in data sharing is key as is highlighted in this article. All salient points are highlighted in the attached slides and you will understand why, unless and until we act on the issues mentioned herewith, floods will continue to create havoc and ruin lives.
