Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) was established in 1987 as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, as a centre for research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of the arts. The Arts' encompass a wide range of subjects - from archaeology and anthropology to the visual and performing arts, enveloping them in a complementary and non-demarcated vision.

A year-long part-time PG Diploma, the course introduces students to different Indian scripts such as Brahmi, Grantha, Tigalari, Modi, Kannada, Marathi Modi, Nandinagari & Old-Devanagari.

Offered in flexible weekend only modules, the course also entails a glimpse into the socio-political history of script development, book-culture and knowledge production in ancient India.

Interest specific research opportunities are also open towards the end of the course.

Recognized by Bangalore University, the course is open to both students, professionals & learners/scholars of dance, music, history, archaeology, paleography and others.
