ITI Limited joins the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and DoT to celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) with the theme: Digital lifelines: Strengthening resilience in a connected world on May 17, 2026.
The theme highlights the critical need to secure digital infrastructure such as submarine cables, satellites, and networks to ensure continuity during crises. Resilient digital infrastructure is the foundation of a connected and inclusive world. Digital resilience underpins universal meaningful connectivity - the ability for everyone to access and use the Internet safely, affordably and effectively.
World Telecommunication Day is celebrated annually on 17th May every year since 1969 to mark the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on May 17, 1865 and signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in Paris. World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is observed to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
