We love celebrating milestones along our journey.
We started 5years ago with a simple idea by and to create a space where children can borrow and read books. The idea of storytelling on Fridays came along and we were lucky to have on board and .vitika who have been part of our precious five years.
Even through CoVid though the library was shut storytelling and book reviews happened online🤩
We had @ join our team and helped us restart the library for kids to visit over the last one year.
Our 5th Anniversary celebration was fun as we had 5 stories and 5experiences with 5 stars too☺️
A big thank you to all our regular library members and children who join on Fridays. The library is alive only because we see the joy it brings.
Let's hope we celebrate another few years more.

Our two who regularly review books and share it on our website www.ourstoryshelf.in
Super proud of Idhika and Ibhan.
This is what they had to say about themselves and their passion.
"My name is Idhika Diwan. I am 8 years old. My hobbies are cooking, art and sleeping. I love to read books, especially about science, history. I like to read fiction and non fiction books. I learn a lot of new things from reading books. During the lockdown, I play and read during the day. I also attend online workshops. Reading helps me answer challenging questions. It also takes me into new worlds. I want to read more and more books so that one day I could publish my own book."
"My name is Ibhan Diwan. I am 6 years old. My hobbies are reading, playing and running. Everyday, in the lockdown, I play with my sister. Reading tells me about lots of new things. My favourite book is Peppa Pig. I also like to read books about Thomas and his friends, and Noddy series. I read books so I always keep changing my mind about what should I be when I grow up."
Great going and look forward to more children being inspired reading their reviews and sharing🙏

In our endeavour to encourage children to read books and express their feedback we have a space on our website for
You do not have to be a member!!
It is a space where children can post their review and read other children's reviews too.
It doesn't have to be perfect and is a safe space for self expression.
Chlidren's book review guidelines
These are some questions that you as a parent can ask to help kids start thinking and analysing the story.
WHAT did you like about the book/story?
WHO are the different characters and who is your favourite character - why?
WHO is the GOOD guy and who is the bad guy?
WHAT kind of a story is this - is it a fun story/happy story/sad story/boring story?
What is your FAVOURITE dialogue from the story?
What do you LEARN from the story?
For older kids who can write by themselves, below is a format they could follow -
A brief introduction about the book/author/type of book
The story plot
What did you like or not like about the story and why?
Could anything be changed that could have made the story more interesting?
What do you learn from the story?
How would you rate a story out of 5? 0 being least and 5 being the maximum, with a justification.
Our process
The Books that your child reviews don't have to be from our library collection. It can be any book.
Once you submit the book review, we will process it to make sure it is authentic and by the child - not by a parent. Once we approve it - it will reflect on the main review page.
If we think that the review needs any kind of modification, you will see a - "Needs revision" comment against the review. You can then re-submit it after making necessary changes.

This Saturday the children put on their imaginary thinking caps as took them on a journey of imagination thru story, activity, interaction.
The children enjoyed the imagination building activities after the story.
is open now for membership- borrow books, read at the library and attend storytelling sessions.
Look forward to bring OSS alive again after a year of seeing no kids at the library.
Our online storytelling sessions ran thru it all but nothing like in person 🙂
