They dream the same dreams. They deserve the same opportunities. No child regardless of where they come from should be denied a childhood full of learning, growth, and possibility.
This was the vision that brought Makkala Jagriti into being to ensure that where a child is born does not determine how their life unfolds.
And so we began. With Holistic Development Learning Centres where children don't just learn they thrive. Where curiosity is nurtured, potential is unlocked, and childhood is experienced the way it should be through play, joy, and discovery.

‘I’m just a girl.’
That’s what I believed.. until I stepped into the makerspace.
The first time I held a tool, I hesitated.
This wasn’t for me.
But slowly, I tried.
I failed.
I tried again.
And one day, I fixed something on my own.
Today, I am that girl...
who creates, repairs, and isn’t afraid to figure things out.
All because I was given a chance to learn.
This makerspace is set up inside a Child Care Institution (CCI) girls’ home in Bangalore, creating access to experiences many of these girls have never had before.
Here, learning goes beyond books. It becomes hands-on, experimental, and deeply personal.
What we’re seeing through this space:
1. Girls confidently using tools, electronics, and materials they once stayed away from
2. Learning by doing, building problem-solving skills through trial and error
3. A quiet but powerful shift, from hesitation to ownership, from doubt to belief

At Guhanthara Resort, we created a space for facilitators from Schools supported by Allegis Group to pause, breathe, and reflect on the change that has been unfolding in their classrooms.
What emerged was powerful.
Facilitators spoke about children who now raise their hands with confidence, think with curiosity, and participate with a sense of ownership. They recognised how a steady presence and mindful engagement can reshape a learning community.
The workshop reminded us that when adults create environments where children feel seen and supported, growth becomes natural. This is the impact that keeps us moving.

We were glad to be part of the Bangalore chapter of the Indian Creativity Consortium.
The space brought together educators, NGOs, corporates, funders, researchers, parents, and students. What stood out was the quality of listening. Conversations were reflective and honest, and the exercises encouraged deeper thinking about the challenges children and education systems face today.
We continue to believe that creativity is not an add-on in education. It is central to how children think, imagine, and solve problems. Platforms like this remind us that sustainable change requires collaboration across sectors.
Grateful to be part of this growing movement.

What often takes facilitators by surprise when they join a child care institution is the depth of soft skills required to truly engage with the children. The level of patience, empathy, and perseverance needed is far beyond what most anticipate. These are not skills one comes in fully equipped with; they are built over time through consistent interaction, meaningful engagement, and a deep understanding of each child’s unique needs.
This is a small glimpse from one such session, where learning goes beyond activities and becomes a shared journey of curiosity and connection. Moments like these reflect the trust, care, and relationships that grow stronger with time.
Emotions are not taught through lessons.
They are shaped in everyday moments between a child and a caregiver.
Through small, consistent interactions, children begin to feel safe, understood, and connected. This is where emotional well-being takes root. This is where development truly begins.
Episode 3, “Foundations of Emotional Development,” of our podcast Early Childhood Matters features Dr. Chaitra G Krishna, a public mental health specialist, who unpacks how responsive caregiving and early relationships lay the foundation for a child’s emotional world.
From naming emotions to understanding brain plasticity, the conversation brings together science and everyday practice in a way that feels both real and actionable.

In this moment from the "Why Play Matters", from our Early Childhood Matters podcast, we reflect on a simple but urgent idea: to choose play for every child around us. In our homes, our communities, and our shared spaces, play needs room to breathe, grow, and belong.
Because when we stop controlling play and start allowing it, we honour something fundamental. Play is not extra. It is every child’s right. And it shapes everything that follows.

Learning shifts in quiet, everyday moments.
A thoughtful question, a pause to listen, a gentle word, a choice offered, a moment to reflect each one shapes how children see themselves and engage with their world.
When facilitators use these micro skills with intention, they create spaces where children feel safe to explore, express, and understand themselves. These simple daily interactions grow into powerful habits that build confidence, deepen connection, and nurture self driven learning.
Early childhood is not just a phase we pass through. It shapes how we think, feel, learn, and connect with the world for the rest of our lives.
Did you watch this conversation from The Magical Years on our podcast Early Childhood Matters yet? Chittaranjan Kaul breaks down why these early years truly matter in the simplest, most powerful way.
