Not to forget the Germans!

Thanks much and truly to the German Consulate (Friedrich, Kanchi, and Dr. Manjula) for giving me the honour to take two visiting German MPs around the Bhoganandishwara Temple in early February '24 -- Mr. Markus Töns (of the Social Democratic Party) and Mr. Carl-Julius Cronenberg (of the Free Democratic Party). The highlight of the heritage walk, was surely the chance to see and enjoy (in maiden viewing) the restored and renovated "kalyani", the "Shringi Theerta"....I had a lot of trepidation that the restoration would be a "new" and "not good" renovation....I was cautiously thankful, the ASI folks have done a good job.

A members' only heritage walk (or stroll actually) through the Bangalore Club, on Sunday 18th February '24....so happy to be doing this after several years, and the number of folks who joined us (close to 60) testament to the interest in the Bangalore Club's history (and its many famous and infamous tales!) and a felt sentiment as expressed to me that we should have more of these heritage walks in and around the Club.

Thanks in full measure to Prateeti Ballal and Chaitra Vijay and all the other members of the Library Sub Committee; and Kenneth Pinto (in particular) and all the members of the General Committee of the Club and the staff of the Club.

I have to say a special thanks to Prateeti, truly, for not only did she handle all the arrangements superbly, her inputs on the flora and fauna of the Club, in particular, was much appreciated and I learnt a lot. I always say each heritage walk, wherever I conduct it, is a learning experience for me....for one cannot say one knows it all! Interesting trivia and fascinating facets always emerge.

A busy season of heritage walks in the Nandi Valley with Nandi Valley Walks....as the historical walking session for this year '24 winds down due to the onset of what unfortunately, looks like a harsh summer ahead.

Couldn't have asked (or, even in my wildest imagination, wished or dreamed) for a more intense heritage walk, than to have the Pritzker Prize winning architect Peter Zumthor join us on Saturday, 24th February. Humbled, privileged, and grateful to Mr. & Mrs. Zumthor; thank you. Many thanks also in full measure to all the folks at the Swiss Consulate, and Bijoy Ramachandran. I can only wish and hope this heritage trail was worth the effort from the audience.

And then on the very same day, in the height of the afternoon sun, and as dusk set in, a group of lawyers walking around in the Valley -- wonderful historical tales were heard and exchanged! Thanks truly to Akshay Bhat and the team from CAM.
