Since there have been drought conditions prevailing in Cauvery Basin which have resulted in minimal flow into the reservoirs in the month of August & September, enough Cauvery Water may not be available in the coming months. As the rainfall prediction is meagre, the BWSSB requests all its consumers to consume and use water judiciously.

The challenges of BWSSB like any other water utilities are manifold. The main being the fresh water resources. Engineering solutions to fetch water from far off places resource in respect of financial availability, institutional availability are to be addressed. The BWSSB outlook covers 4 to 5 issues:
1. The availability of the resource
2. Water Quality and Quantity
3. Effective Wastewater collection, transmission and treatment for safe disposal
4. Water reuse for multipurpose starting from non-potable to potable purpose with different modes and strategies
5. Water related disasters
