On Endangered Species Day, let us reflect on the importance of protecting the wildlife that shares our planet. Every endangered species plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, and their survival is deeply connected to the health of our forests, rivers, and future generations.

Habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, and poaching continue to threaten countless species across the world. Conservation begins with awareness, responsibility, and collective action.

Every species matters. Every action counts. Together, we can create a safer future for wildlife and preserve the natural heritage of our planet.

Strengthening its commitment towards wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility, IDBI Bank has extended its support to Van Vihar National Park & Zoo under the Wildlife Adoption Scheme.

As part of the initiative, the bank provided two Bolero Camper vehicles to support the transportation of food for carnivorous and herbivorous animals within the park and also adopted the male tiger “Bajirao” for a period of one year under its CSR initiative.

The vehicle keys and adoption support were formally handed over to Van Vihar Director Shri Vijay Kumar in the presence of senior officials from IDBI Bank, Assistant Director Dr. Ruhi Haque, and Tourism Incharge Shri K.N. Sharma. Adoption certificates were also presented during the occasion.

Since the launch of the Wildlife Adoption Scheme in 2009, a total of 107 wild animals have been adopted, reflecting growing public participation in wildlife conservation efforts.

A proud moment for Madhya Pradesh and a milestone in global wildlife conservation.

A rescued Cinereous Vulture, treated at the Vulture Conservation Breeding Centre (VCBC), Kerwa, jointly operated by Van Vihar National Park and Bombay Natural History Society, has successfully travelled over 3,000 km from Halali Dam to Uzbekistan after its release into the wild.

Rescued in December 2025 from Vidisha district, the vulture was carefully rehabilitated and released at Halali Dam by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on 23 February 2026. GPS tracking initiated with the support of WWF-India and BNHS revealed its incredible international journey across Rajasthan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and finally Uzbekistan.

This extraordinary migration reflects the strength, endurance, and natural instincts of vultures while showcasing Madhya Pradesh’s growing leadership in scientific wildlife conservation and rehabilitation.

Together, we continue working towards a safer future for vultures and biodiversity conservation.
