The Bureau of Indian Standards Bhubaneswar Branch office celebrated the World Standards Day, 2022 on 14th October 2022, Friday at ‘The Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL) Conference Hall’. This was a day long programme participated by 134 participants with the global theme for this year “Shared Vision for a better World”. The Chief Guest of the ceremony Sri Asit Tripathi, IAS (Retd.), Principal Advisor to Chief Minister, Odisha & Chairman, Western Odisha Development Council delivered a learned lecture on process and product standards, on role of tariff system in enforcing quality and standards.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India made Toys mandatory as per Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020 in which Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been designated as the enforcing authority. However, instances of non-compliances to this QC Order have come to our notice. In exercise of the powers, Officials of Bhubaneswar Branch Office of BIS conducted Search and Seizure Operations on 30th August 2022 at a retail outlet in Bhubaneswar. The outlet was selling toys which were without ISI Mark, which is a violation of Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020

Bureau of Indian Standards, Bhubaneswar Branch office organised exposure visit and industrial visit for students. The programme commenced with an awareness program at BHBO during which the participants were apprised of the BIS activities and BIS Care App. It was followed by an exposure visit to one of the Packaged Drinking Water manufacturing facility, during which the participants visited the manufacturing and laboratory activities and had discussions.

The programme commenced with an awareness program at BHBO during which the participants were apprised of the BIS activities and BIS Care App. It was followed by an exposure visit to one of the cement manufacturing plant, during which the participants visited the manufacturing and laboratory activities and had discussions.
