The OHPC Inter-Unit Volleyball Tournament – 2026 was successfully organized and hosted by HHEP, Burla from 18th February 2026 to 21st February 2026, witnessing participation from all units of OHPC i.e. HHEP, Burla, CHEP, Chiplima, UIHEP, Mukhiguda, UKHEP, Bariniput, BHEP, Balimela, RHEP, Rengali including the Corporate Office, Bhubaneswar.

✨ The tournament commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony on 18th February 2026.
The occasion was graced by Shri Sandeep Patnaik, Director (HR), OHPC as the Chief Guest. Prof. Bibhu Bhusan Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur University attended as the Guest of Honour, and Er. Sushil Behera. Chief Engineer, DoWR was present as the Special Guest.
The ceremony began with the Mashal (Torch) Lighting, Flag Hoisting, marking the formal opening of the tournament, followed by the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp for the successful conduct of the event.

An Oath-Taking Ceremony was administered to the players and officials, pledging their commitment to fair play and discipline. The inaugural function was beautifully complemented by a vibrant cultural programme presented by Bharati Kala Bikash Kendra, Burla and Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Burla.

✨ The four-day tournament featured league matches, followed by semi-finals, a third-place play-off match, and an exciting final match, showcasing competitive spirit, teamwork, and outstanding performance throughout the event. A total of 13 matches were played.

✨ The tournament concluded with a grand Closing and Valediction Ceremony on 21st February 2026.
The ceremony was graced by Sri Debadutta Mishra, Vice Chancellor I/c, VSSUT, Burla. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, The Dean & Principal, VIMSAR, Burla as Guest of Honour and Er. Satyabrata Mohanty, CGM (EL) & Unit Head, UIHEP, Mukhiguda were present as the Special Guest.

✨ The closing function featured a cultural programme followed by the Valediction Programme, during which outstanding performances were recognized and awards were distributed.

Er. Fani Mangaraj, SGM (El), HHEP, Burla delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, organizers, and supporters for making the tournament a grand success.

✨ The closing ceremony concluded with the snuffing off of the Tournament Mashal. This was followed by the Formal Lowering of Tournament Flag, marking the official closure of the OHPC Inter-Unit Volleyball Tournament – 2026.

The programme ended with the closing remarks by Er. Chandramani Sethi, CGM (El.) & Unit Head, HHEP, Burla.

Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (OHPC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shri Amiya Kumar Mohanty as Director (Operation) with effect from 2nd February 2026.

A distinguished hydro power professional, Shri Mohanty brings over three decades of rich experience, technical excellence, and deep institutional knowledge having risen through the ranks within OHPC. His career exemplifies unwavering dedication and mastery across the entire lifecycle of hydro assets—from hands-on Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of legacy power stations to the commissioning of modern generating units. He has played a pivotal role in leading complex Renovation & Modernization (R&M) initiatives, significantly enhancing the life, reliability, and efficiency of aging hydro machinery.

Shri Mohanty has been closely associated with OHPC during its most critical phases of transformation, including the successful transition from the erstwhile State Electricity Board (SEB) framework to a streamlined corporate structure. He has ensured seamless operational continuity under OERC tariff regulations, effectively balancing commercial viability with public service obligations. In recent years, he has also been instrumental in advancing OHPC’s strategic expansion into renewable energy, particularly in the development of large-scale Pumped Storage Plants (PSP).

Articulating his vision for “Powering a Sustainable Tomorrow,” Shri Mohanty stated that, as Director (Operation), he is committed to a strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening OHPC’s position as a premier power generation utility, built on the pivotal pillars such as: to establish diversified Generation Excellence like Hydro Electric Projects (HEP), solar power and cutting-edge Pumped Storage Plants to ensure round the clock grid stability, to play a definitive role in the Eastern Region Grid, providing the necessary flexibility and peaking power required for modern grid management, continue to serve as a reliable supplier of green energy at an affordable cost supporting the state’s industrial and domestic growth, to bolster the organization’s financial health through operational efficiency and prudent asset management and to foster a culture of excellence by investing in quality training and developing a future-ready workforce capable of handling next-generation energy technologies.

Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), a Gold-rated State PSU, is pleased to announce that Sh. Rajib Lochan Panda has assumed charge as Director (Projects) with effect from 2nd February 2026.
Sh. Panda brings with him a distinguished professional career spanning India’s Power Sector, encompassing Thermal Generation, Power Transmission and Hydro Power Systems—the three core verticals of Electrical Engineering.
He began his career with NTPC, where he acquired extensive experience in thermal power plant operations and project management. He subsequently served in POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited, making significant contributions to the expansion of India’s power transmission infrastructure, including HVDC systems, Renewable Energy Grid Integration and large-scale inter-regional transmission projects.

Sh. Panda has also served the State as Director (Projects) at OPTCL, where he played a pivotal role in the successful completion of several critical power transmission projects, even during the challenging period of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

With his assumption of charge at OHPC, Sh. Panda completes a comprehensive professional journey across the generation–transmission–hydro spectrum, bringing with him a wealth of technical expertise and leadership experience. His focus will be on strengthening OHPC’s project ex*****on capabilities, modernizing hydro assets, and integrating renewable energy and Pumped Storage Project (PSP)–based solutions to support Odisha’s evolving power landscape.

Expressing his vision on the occasion, Sh. Rajib Lochan Panda stated:
“It is a privilege to take up this responsibility at OHPC. Having worked across thermal generation, transmission systems, and now hydro power, I look forward to driving technological modernization and sustainable growth in Odisha’s power sector. Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (OHPC), a Gold rated state PSU celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26th January 2026 at Corporate Office, Training Centre, and its Units with due solemnity and patriotic spirit. At the Corporate Office, the National Flag was unfurled by Sri Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), in the august presence of Sri Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operation), along with senior officers and staff. The National Flag was unfurled by Sri Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operation) at the OHPC Training Centre, Chandaka. To commemorate the historic occasion, hand flags and tricolour badges were distributed among employees, fostering a spirit of unity, pride, and devotion to the nation.

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between GEDCOL SAIL Power Corporation Limited (GSPCL- a Joint Venture Company between GEDCOL and SAIL), and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on 24.12.2025 for setting up of 10 MW Mandira Small Hydro Electric Project in Mandira Dam. The entire power generated from the plant will be utilized in Rourkela Steel Plant and the power evacuation will be through Kuaramunda Grid S/s.

The agreement was signed in the Conference Hall of Energy Department, Govt. of Odisha in presence of Sh. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt. Energy Department, Govt. of Odisha & CMD, OHPC & Chairman, GEDCOL , Sh. B. C. Jena, Independent Director, Sh. R.C. Tripathy, Independent Director, Smt Nibedita Mishra, IAS Additional Secretary, Smt. Shyamali Mohapatra, OAS(SS), Shri Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, OAS(SAG), Dr. Debi Dutta Tripathy, OFS of Energy Department, Sh. P. K. Mohanty, Director (Fin.), OHPC and Sh. A. K. At the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit-2025 (GELPS-2025) held in Puri on 07.12.2025, an MoU was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister of Odisha Sj. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Sh. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Energy, Government of Odisha, and Sh. B. V. R. Subrahmanyam, IAS, CEO, NITI Aayog.
The MoU was executed between OHPC, GEDCOL, OREDA, and SECI for potential collaboration in the development of large-scale energy projects, including Solar, Wind, Battery Storage, Pumped Storage (PSP), RE-RTC, Hybrid, Green Hydrogen, Small Hydro, Peak Power Supply etc. within the state of Odisha.

Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (OHPC), a Gold Rated State PSU, observed the Vigilance Awareness Week–2025 across its Corporate Office and Units located at various parts of the State from 27th October to 2nd November 2025, in alignment with the nationwide initiative led by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). The observance commenced with the Integrity Pledge administered at 11:00 AM on 27th October 2025 across all Units and Offices of OHPC. At the Corporate Office, the pledge was administered by Shri Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), in the presence of Shri Sandeep Patnaik, Director (HR), Shri Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operation) I/c, senior officers, and employees. Banners and posters highlighting the theme of vigilance were displayed at prominent locations in the office premises to promote awareness among all employees.
As part of the observance, an Awareness Programme was organised at the OHPC Training Centre, Bhubaneswar, on 1st November 2025. Shri M. Akhaya, IPS (Retd.), former Director General of Police, Government of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Shri Sandeep Patnaik, Director (HR), and other senior officials of OHPC.
Addressing the gathering, Shri M. Akhaya emphasized the need for fostering a corruption-free environment at both individual and organizational levels. Drawing from his rich experience in public service, he highlighted the far-reaching consequences of corruption on society and urged all to uphold integrity in every sphere of work.
In his inaugural address, Director (HR) reiterated OHPC’s strong commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in all administrative processes. He also mentioned that vigilance-related training programmes are conducted regularly to create awareness about whistleblower policy, and ensuring transparency in the workplace.
To mark the occasion, Essay and Slogan Competitions were organized among employees at the Corporate Office and Training Centre. The winners of the Slogan Competition were:
1. 1st Prize – Shri Samir Mahapatra, DGM (El.)
2. 2nd Prize – Shri Sushree Chandan Panda, Manager (El.)
3. 3rd Prize – Shri Madhab Ch. Barik, DM (El.)
The winners were felicitated with mementos and gifts, and all participants of the Essay Competition were presented with prizes as a token of appreciation to encourage active participation.
A Nukkad Natak on the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” was performed by the employees of OHPC, which was highly appreciated by the audience for its impactful message on integrity and ethical conduct. The week-long observance reaffirmed OHPC’s unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in all its operations.
