Odisha proudly remembers its valiant tribal freedom fighters — Madri Kalo, Tama Dora, Ratna Nayak, Nirmal Munda, Rindo Majhi, Madho Singh Bariha, Dharanidhar Nayak, and Laxman Nayak — who were imprisoned or martyred for their courageous struggle against British rule.
During the celebration of , observed from 1st to 15th November 2025 and organized by SCSTRTI, Odisha, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the inspiring stories of these heroic sons of the soil and to pay heartfelt homage to their legacy of valor and patriotism.

On the occasion of – 2025, a captivating Photo Exhibition showcasing the life, livelihood, art, culture and lifestyle of tribal communities has been organized at the Odisha State Tribal Museum. The exhibition features 80 exquisite photographs vividly portraying the rich diversity and heritage of Odisha’s tribal communities.

The nation is celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Abba Bhagwan Birsa Munda this year. On this momentous occasion, a special Bhagwan Birsa Munda Pavilion has been set up inside the Odisha State Tribal Museum campus. The pavilion beautifully showcases rare photographs depicting the life, struggle and journey of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

On the eve of – 2025, the SCSTRTI organized a series of vibrant and meaningful activities, including Special Birsa Munda Pavilion to showcase life and journey of Bhagawan Birsa Munda, Special Photo Gallery exhibiting the tradition and culture of “Tribes of Odisha”, Live Demonstration of traditional tribal art and craft, Painting Exhibition on Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Students Engagement Programme in the Tribal Museum. These celebrations beautifully reflected the rich cultural heritage, creativity and pride of the tribal communities and Tribal Freedom Fighters.

The twelve-day Induction Training (3rd batch) for newly recruited Welfare Extension Officers concluded at SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar, on 24 October 2025. B. Parameswaran, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, ST & SC Development, M & BCW Department, addressed the Closing Ceremony, urging officers to serve tribal and marginalized communities with sincerity and dedication. The programme, attended by 35 officers included field visits and practical sessions to prepare them for effective grassroots service.

An Induction Training Programme for newly appointed Welfare Extension Officers (WEOs) commenced at SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar, on 13th October 2025. Organised by SCSTRTI, the training will be conducted in three phases, with the 3rd phase running from 13th to 24th October 2025.
The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by Sri Sudhakar Sabaro, Director, SCSTRTI, Sri Prabir Khilar, Additional Secretary, ST, SC Development, M&BCW Department, along with other senior officials of SCSTRTI.
The programme is structured to equip the new officers with the essential knowledge and skills required to effectively perform their responsibilities. It also incorporates field visits and practical exercises, enabling the recruits to gain hands-on experience and better understand their roles as Welfare Extension Officers.
