Sh. Kumar Rahul, IAS today assumed the charge of Secretary, Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training and was welcomed by Mrs. Deepti Uppal, Director, DEGSDT and Sh. Rajesh Tripathi, AMD, DEGSDT at Punjab Skill Development Mission Office at Sector 17 C, Chandigarh.
Secretary sir reviewed the progress of projects undergoing at PSDM, Directorate and PGRKAM.

Punjab Skill Development Mission successfully organized the virtual launch ceremony of Microsoft's Diversity Skilling Program today under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Deepti Uppal, IAS, Director, Department of Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training & Sh. Rajesh Tripathi, Additional Mission Director, DEGT.
The program will provide training to 10,000 women & PwD candidates in the age group of 18-30 years in employability, Nano entrepreneurship, digital and communication Skills (18 hrs per module). These sessions will be conducted in 4 weeks, 6 days a week.
Mrs. Uppal informed the candidates that after the training program, they’ll be given chance for internship and Microsoft will facilitate them towards appropriate employment opportunities.
For better understanding of candidates, the program will be delivered in Punjabi.
Mr. Kishore Kumar Thangavelu, National Program Coordinator Microsoft India for CSR, mentioned that Microsoft through its CSR projects is committed to upskill and uplift the underserved youth of nation. He added that they have got a very encouraging response from Punjab and with active support of Punjab Skill Development Mission they will implement the project in a time bound manner.

Felicitation ceremony organised by PSDM on 5th May, 2022 at MGSIPA, Chandigarh for 142 winners of State Skill Competitions, out of which 8 are under training for World Skill competitions to be held in Shanghai,China Oct'22.

Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) have setup Health Sector Skill Development Centres (HSDC) with placement facility at Faridkot through Public Private Partnership (PPP) format. PSDM allots the HSDC through the floating of an RFP.
M/S Radha Krishan Shiksha Prasarini Parishad were the selected Training Partner and have been allotted the HSDC for a period of 5 years M/S Radha Krishan Shiksha Prasarini Parishad will be running various courses in the Health sector and provide trained manpower in the highly work force deficient sector which is facing extraordinary challenges due to COVID-19.

M/S Rayat Educational & Research Trust were the selected Training Partner and have been allotted the MSDC for a period of 5 years. M/S Rayat Educational & Research will be running various courses in the manufacturing and service sectors. With their vast experience in the training and placement of candidates, it is expected that they will be performing a great service for the youth of Punjab.

PSDM has signed MoU with Microsoft for specific mandate of training of 10,000 women/girls and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates of Punjab for 70 hours of training under the CSR program. This program will provide free training and certification to young girls/women and PwD candidates in the age group of 18-30 years having passed 8th standard as a minimum qualification.
Through Microsoft Diversity Skilling Initiative, PSDM intends to enhance livelihood opportunities for women who are in a disadvantageous position and have scant exposure to technical skills and knowledge. This program enables various touch points in building the outreach and engaging young women in training them in various employability and nano entrepreneurship content by means of online engagement. A well planned and defined 70 hours Module course has been created for the same. 4 weeks program will target 4 areas:
i) Digital Skills
ii) Communication Skills
iii) Entrepreneurship
iv) Employability skills
These modules are curated in such a way that someone who is at a very beginner level will also be able to utilize this material to upskill themselves and the training is delivered in local language for wider audience outreach. Under this programme:-
a) Certified students are guided to join other employment related programs.
b) Students are also connected to LinkedIn and UpWork to update their certificate & Skills and their profiles are exposed to 250,000+ companies.
c) Career Guidance sessions from Microsoft and LinkedIn employees are part of the self-learning portal and girls can leverage the same.

MoU for Skill Training has been signed between Department of Water Supply & Sanitation (DWSS) & Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) in presence of Mission Director (JJM) Sh. Amit Talwar and Mission Director (PSDM) Sh. Harpreet Singh Sudan. We intend to train 24,000 youths in category of Plumbing, Electrician & fitter in the state over period of 3 years till 2024 through this MoU.
