Chandigarh Commission For Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) was set up in Feb' 2014 as per the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005.

CCPCR , a statutory body, was set up in Feb' 2014 under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005. The Commission's Mandate is to ensure that all Laws, Policies, Programmes, and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights perspective as enshrined in the Constitution of India and also the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) conducted an awareness session for parents on Safe Touch-Unsafe Touch & Virtual Touch, Child Rights & Responsibilities, POCSO Act and Cyber Security at PM Shri Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-18C, Chandigarh. A total of 35 parents actively participated in the session.

Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson, CCPCR emphasized the importance of parental awareness in todayтАЩs digital age and highlighted the crucial role of parents in ensuring childrenтАЩs safety, emotional well-being and protection in both physical and virtual spaces. She advised parents to maintain open communication with children so they feel comfortable sharing their emotions, stress and anxieties. She further stated that parents and schools together can contribute significantly towards the holistic development of children.

Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR sensitized parents about various forms of child abuse, indicators for early identification and provisions of the POCSO Act. Child Helpline Number-1098, Cyber Safety Helpline Number-1930 and MANAS Helpline Number-1933 were also shared.

Mrs. Manjit Kaur Gill, Principal of the school extended vote of thanks. Mrs. Lalita, School Counsellor along with school staff were also present.

The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) organized an awareness session on Child Rights, POCSO Act, Cyber Safety and Substance Abuse at SaupinтАЩs School, Sector-32, Chandigarh for non-teaching staff including school transport staff, bus drivers, lady attendants and sweepers. A total of 55 participants attended the session.

Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson, CCPCR emphasized child safety, cyber awareness and sensitization of non-teaching staff regarding child-related laws and responsibilities. She also advised schools to ensure life support training of school bus staff as per the STRAPS Policy.

Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR sensitized participants about child rights, child protection and the POCSO Act. Participants were also guided regarding child-friendly practices in school buses, maintenance of First Aid Boxes and CCTV cameras. Child Helpline-1098, Cyber Safety Helpline-1930 and MANAS Helpline-1933 were also shared.

Mrs. Surita Sharma, Principal of the school extended vote of thanks. Sh. Rajneesh Kumar, Mr. Vinod, School Transport Manager, school counselor and school staff were also present.

The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) conducted an awareness session on Safe Touch-Unsafe Touch & Virtual Touch, Child Rights & Responsibilities, POCSO Act and Cyber Security at Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector-16, Chandigarh. Around 90 students participated enthusiastically.

Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson, CCPCR highlighted the importance of child rights, responsibilities and cyber safety against Online Grooming, Cyber-Bullying, Unsafe Social Media Platforms and Photo/Audio Morphing. She also encouraged students to read the тАЬMy Body-My RulesтАЭ display boards and remain stress & anxiety free under NCPCRтАЩs Pariksha Parv 8.0. Students were advised to stay safe and healthy during the upcoming summer vacation.

Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR sensitized students about Child Rights under UNCRC, provisions of the POCSO Act and indicators of child abuse. Child Helpline-1098, Cyber Safety Helpline-1930 and MANAS-1933 were also shared.

Keeping childrenтАЩs health and safety in view, CCPCR issued an advisory to the Education Department, U.T. Chandigarh recommending uniform Summer Vacation for all Private Schools (Aided & Unaided) from 23.05.2026 to 30.06.2026, in line with Government schools.

Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson, CCPCR expressed concern over rising temperatures, humidity and heat-related health risks for children, emphasizing that student safety and well-being must remain the top priority.
