Rules from Municipal Account Code–1930
Duty
Chapter – V :
Rule - V.6
As Octroi inspector – To maintain the record and recovery of the octroi on electricity and excise duty.
Chapter- VII :
Rule - VII.1 (4)
In Addition to any other duties imposed upon him by these rules, Tax Inspector is responsible to assess the buildings for tax purpose and collection of all taxes and fee (i.e. Advertisement Tax, Property Tax/House Tax, Entertainment tax, Show Tax, Toll Tax (if any), Parking Fee (If any), Bus Adda fees (if any) and Water Sewerage charges etc.) as per Punjab Municipal Act 1911/Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976, other than octroi in accordance with the rules and responsible for the proper discharge of their duties by the tax collector/tax clerk as case may be.
Chapter IX :
Rule - IX.1 (3)
License Inspector – In Addition to any other duties imposed upon him by these rules, shall be responsible for reporting to the licensing officer all cases in which person resident in their respective circles have failed to apply for or to obtain licenses requires to be taken out.
Chapter XI
Rule - XI.2 (3)
The rent inspector, in addition to any other duties imposed upon them by these rules, shall be responsible for the proper discharge of their duties by the rent (clerk) and rent collector attached to their respective circles, and it shall be their duty to see that no immovable property of the (corporation or the committee as the case may be) is occupied by any person except with the permission of the (corporation or the committee as the case may be) and that the rents, if any, charges by the (corporation or the committee as the case may be) for the occupation of such property are promptly realized and to report to the lands officer all cases in which any such property within their respective circles is occupies without authority.
Chapter XI
Rule - XI.9
It shall be the duty of rent inspector, if any, appointed under the provisions of rules XI.2 to check the work of rent collector by making periodical rounds in the course of which they shall demand to examine the Tehbazari tickets (From R4) of persons found in occupation of schedules plots of land or portions of public streets and in such cases after such examination as they may think necessary they shall fill up and tear off the coupons attached to the tickets and keep them for comparison with the counterfoils in the books of the rent collectors and after such comparison shall (bring them to the notice of the lands officer or (the executive officer or secretary) as the case may be, who shall retain them till the subsequent audit of the accounts of the (corporation or committed) and may order them to be destroyed thereafter) they shall also see that rent collectors comply with the provisions of Rules XI.8 as to the filling up of progressive totals on the counterfoils of tickets as issued and as to maintenance and daily examination of the Tehbazari register (Form R.5)

Punjab Municipal Account Code, 1930.
Other Duties under General working of Municipalities.
The Following duties can be imposed to an inspector in addition to duties mentioned under the Act or the Municipal Account Code, 1930 by Committee/Corporation or any competent Authority :-
-Court Cases
-Duties Under Right To Information Act and Right To Service Acts .
-Under Public Beneficiaries Schemes of the Government of India and Government of Punjab,
-Census work related Duties,
-Election work related Duties
-Any other work the Government or the Urban Municipal body entrusts on the employee
The duties mentioned are only indicative and not substantative. For details the candidates can go through the Acts mentioned above.
All those candidates appearing in the qualifying educational criteria are eligible to an extent that the candidates have to produce the requisite educational certificate to the selection committee at the time of verification of certificates after the declaration of result.
