Chandigarh Takes a Leap Towards Structured Skill Development
On 16th January, a landmark meeting was held at the Chandigarh Secretariat, marking a collaborative effort between industry associations, educational institutes, and CSDE, Panjab University, under the chairmanship of Shri Diprava Lakra, IAS.
The Chandigarh Institute for Transformation (CIT), under the State Support Mission (SSM) of NITI Aayog, presented a targeted intervention within the ongoing Skill Gap Mapping exercise in Chandigarh.
This initiative is designed to address a critical challenge: high attrition rates among ITI and Polytechnic graduates and the increasing shift of trained youth toward the gig economy — often without structured awareness of career progression, social security, formal employment benefits, and skill pathways.
By bridging these gaps, the program aims to create a sustainable ecosystem for youth employment and skill development, ensuring trained youth find meaningful, long-term career opportunities.
