The Chakma District Congress Committee (CDCC) organized the MGNREGA Bachao Sangram to protest the BJP governmentโ€™s deliberate attempt to weaken MGNREGA through the so-called VB-G RAM G system.

MGNREGA is being systematically weakened, not by law, but by design. The introduction of VB-G RAM G has transformed a people-driven, demand-based employment programme into a bureaucratic, permission-based digital process that restricts work rather than providing it. Excessive paperwork, centralised approvals, rigid digital controls, and technical rejections are making it increasingly difficult for poor rural workers to access work and receive timely wages.

Instead of empowering Panchayats and workers, the government is imposing systems that cause delays in work allocation, delayed wage payments, and exclusion of tribal communities, and the poorest households. This is an attack on livelihoods and dignity. MGNREGA is a right earned through struggle, not a favour to be controlled through apps and files.

CDCC demands the rollback of VB-G RAM G, restoration of decentralised decision-making, and a strengthened MGNREGA that truly serves rural India.
MGNREGA must work for the people and not against them.
