🚀 Innovation for Chennai’s Mobility!

CUMTA in association with Startup TN hosted the “Urban Move – Open Innovation Challenge”, inviting students, startups and innovators to develop technology solutions addressing Chennai’s urban mobility challenges.

From 161 participating teams, the top solutions across 5 themes were selected and awarded. Each of the winning team were awarded a cash prize of Rs.50,000/- and each of the runner team were awarded a cash prize of Rs.30,000/- The awards were presented to the Winners and Runners by Thiru. I. Jeyakumar, IRTS/R, MS, CUMTA & Thiru. Sivarajah Ramanathan, MD, CEO, StartupTN.

CUMTA invites bidders for tender for the selection of an agency to provide rental cars on a rate contract basis.

Eligibility Criteria:
1️⃣ Financial Criteria:
Average Annual Financial Turnover during the last three financial years (2022–23, 2023–24, 2024–25) should be at least Rs. 30,00,000/- (Rupees Thirty Lakhs Only).
(Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years to be submitted.)

2️⃣ Fleet Requirement:
The tenderer must have access to a minimum fleet of 10 cars (Dzire / Etios / Innova / Tavera), Model 2025 or later, registered under the commercial category in the name of the firm/proprietor/partner.
• Minimum 2 cars owned in the name of the Firm/Proprietor/Partner
• Minimum 8 cars on contract

CUMTA conducted a Stakeholder Consultation on the Draft Comprehensive Road & Street Design Guidelines for the Chennai Metropolitan Area, bringing together officials from CMDA Chennai, Greater Chennai Corporation, DTCP, Avadi Corporation, Tambaram Corporation, and the Highways Department. The guidelines aim to provide comprehensive and uniform guidance across all road and street categories in the Chennai Metropolitan Area. They mark a significant shift from a project-based approach to a long-term, lifecycle-based framework, covering planning, design, implementation, operations, and maintenance.

The guidelines also emphasize inter-agency coordination through CUMTA, incorporate five years of on-ground implementation learnings, ensure consistent design standards and quality across jurisdictions.

The discussions focused on the need to ensure a clear hierarchy of roads, street design process and elements, best practices and on-ground learnings, and utility management.

The valuable inputs and feedback received from stakeholders will play a crucial role in guiding and strengthening the next phases of this initiative.
