She had been a resident in our Shelter since 2018. Hailing from Rayagiri, Tirunelveli, she was raised by a single mother who was a daily wager. She completed her B.ed and LLB degress while staying with us.
Sasi, a 34 year old woman with 100% visual impairment, was appointed as Teacher, Government Higher Secondary School for the Blind in Thanjavur. She has been a shelter resident since 2020. Hailing from Keelpapambadi , Vilipuram District, she pursued her B.Ed course while staying at our shelter.

We are very happy to launch our door-to-door Household survey for disabilities, also called Household Social Registry Enrollment (HH-SRE) in the 3 districts of Chennai (9 zones), Kanchipuram and Ranipet over the course of last week. This is an essential part of the TN RIGHTS program of the Dept for the Welfare of the Differently Abled and we are the responsible agency to select and train the frontline workers and to ensure the smooth conduct of the survey in these districts. We plan to cover around 14.5 million population (around 3.6 million households) by the end of September 2025 with the help of our frontline team supported by the central team from the TN Rights project.
This is a first step in ensuring that no one with disability is left behind, and to work towards a more equitable, inclusive and accessible world for them.
