Watching this elegant migrant forage along the water's edge is always a delight for bird lovers.

The Eurasian Curlew, a Near Threatened species and one to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Water birds applies, is a remarkable long-distance migratory shorebird. With its long down-curved bill and haunting calls, it is one of the most iconic waders of the wetlands. Its presence in the wetlands highlights the importance of this habitat as a vital wintering and feeding ground for migratory water birds, reflecting the ecological value of the wetland.
