Today, the Secretary to Government, Transport Department, Dr. M. Vallalar, IAS, inspected the Poonamallee Electric Bus Depot. During the inspection, he reviewed the operation of electric buses, passenger convenience facilities onboard, the ticketing system, and the functioning of Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) at the depot. He also assessed the overall operational performance and service standards being maintained for commuters.

MTC Chennai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Torrent Gas Chennai Pvt Ltd for the development of CNG Captive facility (CNG Filling Station) at MTC depots. Under this collaboration, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations will be set up at the existing Madhavaram depot and upcoming Kuthambakkam depot supporting MTC’s transition to cleaner fuels for its CNG bus fleet.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Prabhushankar T Gunalan, I.A.S., Managing Director, MTC Chennai and other officials from MTC Chennai.

Today, the Secretary to Government, Transport Department, Dr. M. Vallalar, IAS, inspected the proposed upcoming bus terminus and depot near the Velachery MRTS Railway Station at Velachery.

During the inspection, the proposed plans for establishing the terminus and depot, infrastructure requirements, operational feasibility, and commuter convenience were reviewed in detail. The proposed facility aims to strengthen public transport connectivity and enhance bus operations in the region.
