Our District Governor Initiates Construction of Pink Toilet for Adolescent Girls at Chennai Corporation middle school in Madipakkam.
A significant step towards promoting hygiene and sanitation for adolescent girls was taken on 9th September 2026 with the laying of the foundation stone for a Pink Toilet at Chennai Corporation Middle School in Madipakkam. The toilet, equipped with a napkin vending machine and incinerator, is being constructed under the initiative of MJF Lion P. Manisekar, District Governor, Lions Clubs International, District 3241A.
The project is a pet initiative of Lion P. Manisekar, who aims to construct 50 Pink Toilets across the district. The proposal was made in response to a request from the Lions Club of Madipakkam, which has assured to take care of the maintenance of the facility in the coming years.
Speaking on the occasion, Lion P. Manisekar emphasized the importance of providing safe and hygienic sanitation facilities for adolescent girls, particularly in schools. The Pink Toilet is ex
pected to benefit the students of Chennai Corporation Middle School and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
The event was attended by office bearers of the Lions Club of Madipakkam, who reiterated their commitment to supporting such initiatives in the futures.

Making a difference, one step at a time!
On 11.02.2026, Lions Club of Madras Madipakkam took a significant step towards supporting education in our community. We donated essential items to Panchayat Union Primary School, St. Thomas Mount Union, to ensure uninterrupted learning for the students.
The items donated include: 6 nos. of 48" ceiling fans, 55 nos. of large stainless steel plates, 55 nos. of small stainless steel plates, 1 no. of 10-litre cooker, 1 no. of 12-litre cooker, and notebooks with writing materials.
District Governor Lion P. Manisekar graced the event as the Chief Guest. This initiative was funded and organized by Lion J. Vijayabaskar, District Chairperson for School Infrastructure Development, with the support of Lion JR. Siddarthan. We're proud to be making a difference in the lives of these students

Lions Club of Madipakkam Organizes Cancer Awareness and Free Screening Camp for Women
In association with Adyar Cancer Institute, Lions Club of Madipakkam successfully conducted a Cancer Awareness and Free Screening Camp for women on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Ullagaram, Chennai.
The camp screened 23 women beneficiaries, providing them with essential health checks and awareness on cancer prevention. The event aimed to empower women with knowledge on cancer detection and prevention, promoting early detection and timely treatment.
During the camp, handbills creating awareness on pediatric cancer were distributed among the participants, spreading awareness about this critical issue.
Lions Club of Madipakkam's initiative reflects their commitment to serving the community and promoting health awareness.

Mental Health and Well-being Session for Adolescents at 'Anaikkum Karangal' Orphanage
Lions Club of Madipakkam recently organized a special session on "Mental Health and Well-being" for the students of Class IX to XII at 'Anaikkum Karangal' orphanage. Conducted by Lion Susila Narayanan, 1st Vice President of the club, the session focused on counseling and yoga techniques to alleviate exam stress.
The initiative had a profound impact on the orphanage residents, who are mostly from underprivileged backgrounds with single or no parents. The session provided them with valuable coping mechanisms and showed them care and compassion, making the service rendered truly heartwarming and fulfilling.
