Liangmais Should Stay Away from Tangkhul Politics:
The ongoing tensions in the hill districts of Manipur are the result of the seeds sown by some non-Kuki tribals during the peak of the Meitei-Kuki conflict since 3rd May 2023. Pseudo-social activists like Ashang Kasar, Diphiu Prinmai, and Julia Singlai have been adding more and more fuel to the fire through their TV discussions and live shows on Imphal-based cable networks and media houses like IMPACT TV, TOM TV, ISTV, SKTV, etc.
Going back to 2023, this Liangmai guy named Diphiu Prinmai started publishing articles on various social media platforms as well as in print media, provoking the Kuki community over almost everything happening in the state. His article titled βKangpokpi, a Safe Haven for Refugeesβ angered many Kukis across the country in 2023. However, the Kuki community remained silent to avoid any kind of misunderstanding between Kukis and Manipuri Nagas in the state of Manipur.
Yes, the Kuki and Meitei communities are still in conflict. Meanwhile, there has been considerable third-party involvement siding with the majority Meitei community in the name of indigenous/Yelhoumee identity, especially from sections of the Tangkhul and Liangmai communities.
The connectivity road for Kukis from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi (German-Tiger Road) has been disrupted many times by these Liangmai groups on several occasions. Due to these road blockades, Kukis in Leimakhong Hill Town and surrounding areas have been facing serious difficulties, as they have been completely cut off from other Kuki areas because the town is located along this route.
Time went on, and then came the Litan incident in February 2026, where a drunk Tangkhul boy was beaten by a few Litan Kukis after shouting at and challenging Kukis in the heart of Litan Kuki village. Litan is a Kuki village with a mixed population of Kukis, Tangkhuls, and a few Nepalis. Arson broke out, Tangkhuls started burning Kuki houses in Litan, and so on. In the following days, two innocent Kuki men were killed by Tangkhul militants, and the situation became increasingly tense.
Dear fellow Liangmais, you have a population of around 55,000 in Manipur, and you have 14β18 villages comprising 6,000β8,000 people in Kuki territory in Kangpokpi district.
So, don't be a mouthpiece and hammer of the Tangkhuls, as well as NSCN-IM and ZUF-Kamson, when most of the Kacha Naga deaths so far have come from your community and most of the villages burned have been Liangmai villages. Tangkhuls started the game and then transferred it to Kangpokpi and Noney districts to get your involvement. Don't be a mad dog and an ass licker. You are the ones who will lose.
If you want to settle in Kangpokpi district with full protection and peace, set aside your ego and ask for forgiveness for what you have done in the past months and days. Nobody wants casualties. We are neighbors, and we will remain neighbors. Otherwise, those 14β18 Liangmai villages may have to mourn in the coming days... ππππππππ πOππ Ukhrul Times
