4 TN BN NCC Coimbatore under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters, Coimbatore conducted a Campaign at Ukkadam Lake, Coimbatore to keep the surroundings of water bodies clean not just for better aesthetics but also to maintain clean ecosystem for the aquatic life. About 200 NCC cadets, 4 ANOs, 15 PI Staff and 1 Officer participated in the subject programme. The Cadets not only cleaned the pathway of the Lake but also took upon the awareness drive to educate and sensitise the local population not to litter around the water bodies, discourage use of plastic bags, use bin to discard waste, use of biodegradable packing material and use cloth bags while shopping. The population directly covered was about 2000 persons and indirectly covered was about 4000 persons. It was learnt that NCC is taking up Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, a drive, at National level to maintain cleanliness in the surroundings of the sea shores/ beaches. However NCC Group Headquarters Coimbatore extended the drive to Lakes and others water bodies since no coastal area exist in the City. The event was organised by 4 TN BN NCC Coimbatore during the early hours of the day ie 0630 hrs to 0900hrs . Col LCS Naidu, Group Commander, NCC Gp Headquarters Coimbatore conveyed his compliments to all the NCC fraternity falling under his jurisdiction for the noble work undertaken as a responsibility by the Cadets. The event was attended by Constable Anburaj ex Govt Arts College Cbe an NCC Alumini of 4 TN BN NCC Coimbatore. He motivated the Cadets to be responsible citizens and work sincerely towards nation building. The cadets expressed their joy to listen to an ex Cadet's words of wisdom and appreciation. The event culminated with a resolve to enhance the social service activities to bring meaningful change in the society towards a better future.
