Brief Report on NYKS participation in Magh Mela 2020 at Uttarkashi organised by Govt. Of Uttarakhand

The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) appointed Sh. Uttam Singh Panwar, District Program Officer, Uttarkashi as Nodal Officer for Magh Mela 2020 for Handling Namami Gange Stall and also for undertaking IEC Activities, the NYKS State Office also directed Sh. Rohit Jayara, State Project Coordinator to monitor the progress.
The State Office created a small exhibition for installation at the stall whereas the SPMG Uttarakhand arranged for IEC Material such as brochures, leaflets and promotional material such as eco-friendly carry bags, T-shirts, Caps Etc.

The SPMG & NYKS jointly installed the stall on 14th January 2020 wherein besides display of NYKS exhibition interactive audio visual communication devices were also installed. Sh. Vijay Singh Kathait, UNV/DYC, Uttarkashi, Rohit Jayara, State Project Coordinator & Uttam Singh Panwar, District Program Officer handled the stall. The NYK Uttarkashi deployed Volunteers & Youth Leaders for conduct of IEC.

The Stall & Exhibition was inaugurated on 14th January 2020 by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Hon’ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt. of India jointly with Shri Dhan Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Uttarakhand. Shri Deepak Bijalwan, Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh, Uttarkashi, Shri Gopal Singh Rawat, MLA Gangotri Uttarkashi, Shri Kedar Singh Rawat, MLA Yamunotri were also present.

The SPMG & NYKS officials utilized the event for awareness generation in masses specially the Women, Students & Youth, wherein demonstrations were presented, one to one discussion held. IEC and promotional material was distributed. The officials administered Ganga Swachta Pledge, Signature campaign for the visitors.

The initiatives was effective in promoting the idea of Clean Ganga amongst the masses particularly the Youth. The NYKS utilized this activity for further identifying active young men & women who would participate in the forthcoming activities of ‘Involvement of Youth in Namami Gange Program’ Project.
