MoEF&CC deputed Shri Anoop Singh DG FSI and National Correspondent of India for FRA and Shri Prakash Lakhchaura DDG FSI and alternate NC for India to attend the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) Plenary at Bali Indonesia from 21-23 October 2025. During GFOI Plenary, FAO will launch results of FRA 2025. During the three days meeting, discussion will be held on National Forest Monitoring and strategy for the next FRA 2030.

भारतीय वन सर्वेक्षण, देहरादून में दिनांक 30.09.2025 को हिंदी पखवाड़ा समापन समारोह आयोजित किया गया। इस उपलक्ष्य में राजभाषा कार्यशाला आयोजित की गई जिसमें डॉ. एम.आर.सकलानी, पूर्व उप निदेशक (राजभाषा), आयकर विभाग ने भारत सरकार की राजभाषा नीति,अधिनियम व नियम, टिप्पण आलेखन व अनुवाद विषय पर व्याख्यान दिया। इसी श्रृंखला में संस्थान के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों द्वारा वार्षिक राजभाषा पत्रिका “वन दर्पण” के 24वें अंक का विमोचन किया गया। इसके पश्चात पखवाड़ा के दौरान आयोजित विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताओं के विजयी प्रतिभागियों को पुरस्कार स्वरूप प्रशस्ति पत्र प्रदान किए गए। इस अवसर पर उप महानिदेशक महोदय श्री प्रकाश लखचौरा, संयुक्त निदेशक सुश्री शिवानी डोगरा, उप निदेशक श्री मुंढे अरविंद दत्तू, उप निदेशक श्रीमती सुगंधा श्रीवास्तव उपस्थित रहे।

भारतीय वन सर्वेक्षण, दिनांक 22 से 27 सितंबर 2025 तक “आरएस/जीआईएस और फील्ड इन्वेंटरी विधियों का उपयोग करके कार्य योजना वन संसाधन मूल्यांकन की तैयारी” विषय पर महाराष्ट्र राज्य के 23 सत्र के लिए एक सप्ताह का प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया।
Forest Survey of India (FSI), is a premier national organization under the union Ministry of Environment and Forests, responsible for assessment and monitoring of the forest resources of the country regularly. In addition, it is also engaged in providing the services of training, research and extension. Established on June 1,1981, the Forest Survey of India succeeded the "Preinvestment Survey of Forest Resources" (PISFR), a project initiated in 1965 by Government of India with the sponsorship of FAO and UNDP.
The main objective of PISFR was to ascertain the availability of raw material for establishment of wood based industries in selected areas of the country. In its report in 1976, the National Commission on Agriculture (NCA) recommended for the creation of a National Forest Survey Organization for a regular, periodic and comprehensive forest resources survey of the country leading to creation of FSI. After a critical review of activities undertaken by FSI, Government of India redefined the mandate of FSI in 1986 in order to make it more relevant to the rapidly changing needs and aspirations of the country.
