10th Foundation Day of Regional Science Centre, Dehradun Celebrated UCOST - Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology

The 10th Foundation Day of the Regional Science Centre (RSC), Dehradun was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 3rd February 2026 at the RSC campus, Dehradun. The programme marked a significant milestone in the journey of the Regional Science Centre towards promoting science education and scientific temperament among students and the general public. The program begins with the welcome by center in-charge Dr. Piyush Joshi, he presented the progress of the center in last year and decade in a nut shell. He also updates audience with the new innovation and activities of the center. On this occasion Prof. Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST, congratulated the officials and staff of UCOST and RSC, Dehradun for their dedicated efforts and contributions in the successful journey of the Centre over the past ten years. Prof. Pant said that Uttarakhand will have its own Science City in the coming years. He also highlighted the science education initiatives of UCOST, including establishment of science centers in various districts, scientific workshops, skill development trainings, STEM education programmes, Vigyaan Radio and several other outreach activities. During the programme, the Annual Calendar, Diary, Brochures and Annual Report of RSC, Dehradun were formally inaugurated. Dr. Piyush Goel, Emeritus Scientist, UCOST, delivered al talk on emerging scientific and technological advancements and new research areas in science and technology. Dr. D. P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST, presented a lecture on the Biodiversity of the Himalayan Region, emphasizing its ecological significance and conservation challenges. Shri G. S. Rautela, Advisor, Science City, delivered a talk on the Pillars of Education, focusing on career opportunities and pathways to professional success. He also conducted live science demonstrations on various scientific principles, making the session highly interactive and engaging for students. Shri Vinod Ojha, Emeritus Scientist, UCOST, delivered a talk on “Identifying One’s Personality for Career Selection through the Indian Knowledge System”, offering valuable insights to students. During the program, students interacted with scientists from UCOST, discussing their academic challenges and queries. Today RSC, Dehradun also organized an open day for visitors, encouraging public participation. More than 200 students from Dolphin PG College, Hill Grove School Jhajra and Swaraswati Vidhya Mandir, Manduwala actively participated in the event. Scientists, staff of RSC, from UCOST and experts from various organizations participated in the program. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Piyush Joshi, In-charge, Regional Science Centre, Dehradun, who delivers the vote of thanks to all the participants present during the program.

Today, 18 students from Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Garhi Cantt, Dehradun visited the Regional Science Centre, Dehradun for an educational tour.
During their visit, the students explored the Himalaya Gallery, Fun Science Gallery, Frontier of Technology, and Innovation Hub, and also experienced the wonder of the 3D film show and the planetarium. They further enjoyed the Dino Park, and Biodiversity Park, making the visit both knowledge-enhancing and inspiring.
Such interactive experiences not only spark curiosity but also encourage young minds to embrace science and innovation. 🌍🔭🧪

Today students from Gyananda School for Girls, Dehradun visited the Regional Science Centre, Dehradun.
During their visit, they explored various fascinating sections of the Centre, including the Fun Science Gallery and the Himalayan Gallery, which offered them engaging and interactive learning experiences.
The students also attended a special lecture on Artificial Intelligence, gaining valuable insights into this cutting-edge technology.
Dr. D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST, also interacted with the students, encouraging their curiosity and passion for science.
The students were absolutely thrilled to see how science works its magic in such majestic ways! ✨

Students from SARC Education Foundation, Kanchanpur, Nepal participated in a Robotics session led by Ms. Soniya Bhandari, where they enthusiastically designed robots with great dedication and interest. In addition, they explored sensor technology and programming concepts. The session not only enriched their technical understanding but also helped them develop vital skills such as teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

The AI Skill Lab at the Regional Science Centre, Dehradun today successfully concluded an engaging and practical session for the visiting students from SARC Education Foundation, Nepal. The session was conducted by Mr. Siddhant Uniyal, I/C AI Skill lab and focused on introducing students to the fundamentals and real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Over the course of two hours, the students were introduced to the core domains of AI including Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL), with a strong emphasis on the AI project cycle. The session incorporated hands-on demonstrations, including the development and deployment of a Diabetes Predictive System using Python, which helped students understand how machine learning models are built, trained, and implemented.

The faculty accompanying the students representing the SARC Education Foundation expressed sincere gratitude for organizing such an insightful and skill-oriented session. They appreciated the structure, content, and delivery of the training, highlighting its importance in shaping young minds toward innovation and future technology.

आज आंचलिक विज्ञान केंद्र, यूकॉस्ट, देहरादून में सार्क एजुकेशन फाउंडेशन कंचनपुर नेपाल से आए 30 छात्रों का दो दिवसीय शैक्षणिक भ्रमण सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हुआ। यह भ्रमण भारत स्थित रे फाउंडेशन के तत्वावधान में आयोजित किया गया किया गया। भ्रमण कार्यक्रम का समन्वयन संस्था के श्री कौशल कुमार द्वारा किया गया।
भ्रमण के दौरान छात्रों को ड्रोन तकनीक से संबंधित एक विशेष प्रशिक्षण सत्र में भाग लेने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ, जिसमें ड्रोन के विभिन्न पुर्जों की पहचान, संयोजन की विधि तथा सुरक्षा मानकों की विस्तृत जानकारी दी गई। इसके साथ ही प्रतिभागियों ने कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (AI) पर आधारित कार्यशाला में भाग लिया एवं रोबोटिक्स का अवलोकन कर विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी की नवीनतम उपलब्धियों से अवगत हुए।
इस शैक्षणिक भ्रमण में प्रतिभागियों के साथ उनके शिक्षकगण — सुश्री संगीता खड़का, श्री बल्लव प्रसाद पनेरा एवं श्री लक्ष्मण बस्नेत भी सम्मिलित रहे, जिन्होंने भारत में प्राप्त अनुभव को अत्यंत उपयोगी एवं प्रेरणादायी बताया।
इस अवसर पर उत्तराखंड राज्य विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी परिषद (UCOST) के महानिदेशक प्रो. दुर्गेश पंत ने वर्चुअल माध्यम से छात्रों से संवाद किया। उन्होंने कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता एवं मशीन लर्निंग को भविष्य की अनिवार्य तकनीक बताते हुए युवाओं से तकनीकी नवाचारों को अपनाने का आह्वान किया।
सम्पूर्ण कार्यक्रम का समन्वय एवं संचालन डॉ. ओ.पी. नौटियाल द्वारा किया गया, जिन्होंने विद्यार्थियों को वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण अपनाने हेतु प्रेरित किया तथा केंद्र की विभिन्न तकनीकी एवं शैक्षणिक सुविधाओं की जानकारी उपलब्ध कराई।
यह अध्ययन भ्रमण न केवल भारत-नेपाल के पारस्परिक शैक्षणिक सहयोग को नई दिशा प्रदान करता है, अपितु हिमालयी क्षेत्र में विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में क्षेत्रीय समन्वय और नवाचार की भावना को भी सशक्त करता है।

आज आंचलिक विज्ञान केंद्र, देहरादून यूकास्ट, झाझरा में इंडियन इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ़ रिमोट सेंसिंग, इसरो में यूनाइटेड नेशन द्वारा एफिलिएटिड स्पेस साइंस एंड टेक्नोलॉजी एजुकेशन इन एशिया एंड पेसिफिक (CSSTEAP) द्वारा पीजी कोर्स ओंन रिमोट सेंसिंग और जियोग्राफिक इनफार्मेशन सिस्टम (RS & GIS) कोर्स में प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त कर रहे एशियन पेसिफिक क्षेत्र के विभिन्न 7 देशो के 11 प्रतिभागियों द्वारा शैक्षिक भ्रमण संपन्न किया गया।
प्रशिक्षणार्थियों ने आंचलिक विज्ञान केंद्र के हिमालय गैलरी का खूब आनंद लिया इसके साथ ही उन्होंने फन साइंस गैलरी, फ्रंटियर ऑफ़ टेक्नोलॉजी, इन्नोवेशन हब के साथ ही 3D फिल्म शो तथा तारामंडल का भी अवलोकन किया। समस्त विदेशी प्रतिभागियों द्वारा साइंस पार्क, डाइनो पार्क एवं जैव विविधता पार्क का भी भ्रमण किया। विदेशी मेहमानों को कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता AI के क्षेत्र में यूकोस्ट द्वारा किये जा रहे कार्यों की भी जानकारी आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस स्किल लैब के माध्यम से प्रदान की गई।
विदेशी प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ आईआरएस देहरादून के वैज्ञानिक डॉक्टर हरी शंकर ने प्रसन्नता व्यक्त कर भ्रमण को प्रतिभागियों के ज्ञान वर्धन हेतु एक महत्वपूर्ण कारक बताया। उन्होंने उक्त भ्रमण को सफल एवं उत्साह वर्धक बनाने हेतु समस्त प्रतिभागियों की ओर से महानिदेशक यूकास्ट प्रोफेसर दुर्गेश पंत का धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया। सभी प्रतिभागियों ने आंचलिक विज्ञान केंद्र के भ्रमण पर संतोष एवं अति प्रसन्नता व्यक्त की।
