What if a rug could chart space the way a memory does?
In Mere Ghar ka Naksha, artisan Deshraj doesn’t just weave wool—he sketches a story. This rug, made in collaboration with the Jaipur Rugs Foundation, offers a top-down view of his home, seen through the quiet logic of lived experience.
At first glance, it’s abstract. But look closer: dense tufted patches suggest rooms and walls; open, flat-woven spaces trace roads and thresholds. It’s a clever study in contrasts, where form becomes feeling, and design becomes a kind of autobiography.
This isn’t just textile—it’s topography. A place remembered, a layout reimagined, all translated into thread.
Currently on view at the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design, Red Fort, Delhi.
