The Centenary Celebration Committee of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar headed by the then Prime Minister of India decided to set up Dr. Ambedkar Foundation to carry out the programmes and activities for furthering of Dr Ambedkar's ideology and spread his message of social justice to the masses not only in the country but also abroad. Dr. Ambedkar Foundation was established by the Government of India under the aegis of the Ministry of Welfare (now Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) on March 24, 1992 as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860

📢 Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme – Revised 2026

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation has revised the Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme for providing financial assistance towards medical treatment to eligible SC/ST patients.

The revised scheme includes updated eligibility criteria, financial assistance and other provisions.

A Review Meeting of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment & Chairman, DAF, in the presence of Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, on 13 August 2026.

The meeting reviewed the key schemes and initiatives of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, reaffirming its commitment towards social justice, empowerment and inclusive development in accordance with the vision and ideals of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation organised a solemn floral tribute on the occasion of the 136th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Prerna Sthal.

The tribute was led by Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi & Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla.

HMSJE & Chairman, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation Dr. Virendra Kumar, along with Hon’ble Ministers of State of SJ&E, Shri Ramdas Athawale and Shri B. L. Verma, and other distinguished dignitaries also paid their respects.

On this day, the nation remembers Babasaheb as the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution and reaffirms its commitment to his ideals of social justice, equality, and empowerment for all.

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation organised a Commemorative Programme on the occasion of the 200th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule at BHIM Hall, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), New Delhi.

The programme was held under the Chief Guestship of Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment and Chairman, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation.

The event was graced by Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment; Ms. V. Vidyavathi, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities; Shri Shailendra Kumar, Member Secretary, DAF & Joint Secretary, D/o SJE; Prof. S. K. Chalal, Chair Professor, Kurukshetra University; and Shri Kumar Nityanand, Director, DAF, along with officers and officials of DAF and D/o SJE.

In his address, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted the path-breaking contributions of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and emphasized that the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment continues to follow his vision of an inclusive and equitable society.

A short film produced by the Ministry of Culture India on Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was showcased to mark the occasion.
