Exactly 50 years ago, that is on November 6th, 1975, Morocco showed a strong example of peaceful means to accomplish its territorial integrity through the historic and unprecedented Green March.
Under the leadership of late King Hassan II, 350,000 volunteers—10% of whom were women with participants also from brotherly and friendly nations. They all marched as one single Man to reclaim the still occupied parts of the Moroccan Southern Provinces.
This followed indeed earlier recoveries of Tarfaya region (1958) and that of Sidi Ifni (1969). All 3 phases marked unifying moments and a collective stand against colonialism. The Green March will always remain a proud moment of all Moroccans in the modern history of the Kingdom.
