Indian Journalist Union

The IJU is the only representative organisation of journalists in India. It has its affiliates in almost all the States and Union Territories.

The total strength of the IJU is over 23,000 members. The IJU is a democratic organisation and is run in accordance with its unique and all-encompassing Constitution, which requires the organisation to hold a national conference after every two years, which is attended by delegates representing all its members from various States. Senior leaders of Indian journalists union (IJU) and Telangana state union of working journalists (TUWJ) today sat on one day hunger strike at Hyderabad protesting against the indifferent attitude of state Government towards journalists.

Leaders of IJU & TUWJ demanded the State Government to conduct Corona tests to all working journalists. Demands include sanction of solatium of Rs 50 Lakhs to family of journalist Manojkumar who died with Corona recently and extending insurance coverage of Rs. 50 lakhs to all working journalists.
