The High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi in the framework of the current Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union organized a Cypriot Musical Concert, on 15.4.2026, at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, with the performance of Cypriot artists, Evagoras Karageorgis, Paris Paraschos, Clio Papadia and Alexia Yiangou. High Commissioner Vryonides, introduced the programme and artists to the audience. The attendees to the event were the dignitaries from the musical & cultural sphere, diplomats and students.

In collaboration between the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi and Alliance Française de Delhi, Cyprus participated with the award-winning film “The Pause”, by Tonia Mishiali, in the Francophonie Film Festival 2026. The screening took place at ML Bhartia Auditorium, Alliance Française de Delhi, at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 19.3.2026. H.E. Mr. Evagoras Vryonides, High Commissioner of Cyprus to India introduced the film to the audience. Present during the screening were the dignitaries from the cultural sphere, film enthusiasts, diplomats and students.

On the occasion of the commencement of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to India, Mr. Evagoras Vryonides hosted a Reception on 2.2.2026, at the Imperial Hotel, New Delhi. The Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs Mr. Kirti Vardhan Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. High Commissioner Vryonides delivered a brief speech on the occasion, followed by the brief speeches by the EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan Mr. Hervé Delphin and the Hon'ble Chief Guest.

Today (10 December 2025, at 10:20 am), during the 20th Session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in New Delhi, the inclusion of Cypriot wine namely Commandaria in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was officially announced, by the President of the Committee, Mr. Vismal V. Sharma, who made the decision public during the presentation of the relevant file, without any objection.

This was followed by a five-minute intervention by Dr. Angel Nicolaou-Konnari, Cypriot Expert/Representative.

Commandaria, an ancient dessert wine of Cyprus is deeply rooted in Cypriot culture. It was first listed on Cyprus’ National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021.

The Cyprus High Commission in New Delhi expresses its deep sorrow for the unfortunate loss of a number of innocent lives in the deadly car explosion in Delhi. At these difficult times, the High Commission conveys sincere condolences to the affected families and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The Republic of Cyprus is participating with the drama film "Smaragda: I Got Thick Skin and I Can’t Jump" (99 mins), directed by Emilios Avraam, in the 30th Edition of the EU Film Festival to be held in New Delhi from 31st October to 9th November 2025.

The Cypriot movie “Smaragda: I Got Thick Skin and I Can’t Jump" is scheduled to be screened on Thursday, 6th November 2025, at 4:00 pm, at the Hungarian Cultural centre, New Delhi.
