SFI Delhi University strongly condemns the horrific gang r**e of a first year Delhi University student in Lucknow. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the survivor and reaffirm our commitment to fighting against patriarchy, misogyny, and every structure that enables sexual violence while abandoning survivors.

SFI DU extends its unwavering solidarity to the residents of the Rajiv Gandhi Girls’ Hostel, who are protesting against arbitrary financial exploitation.
The hostel administration’s recent decision to financially penalize students – by hiking fees by ₹11,000 for the ongoing session despite payments already made, and by threatening eviction during exams, simply because academic and research requirements force them to stay a few extra days in June, is completely unjust. Forcing students to bear an unexpected price hike just to complete their terms fundamentally goes against the very idea of student welfare.
As a premier, publicly funded Central University, Delhi University has a basic duty to ensure accessible and affordable housing for all its students. Instead, hostelers across our university are continuously facing mismanagement and apathy. Recently, residents of Miranda House Hostel and UHW have protested over similar issues.
Turning essential residential facilities into profit-driven spaces is unacceptable, and places an unfair burden on students, especially those from economically vulnerable backgrounds. A university hostel is an extension of academic infrastructure—meant to support learning, not to function as a commercial enterprise that maximizes revenue at the cost of student well-being.
We demand that the administration immediately withdraw these unfair charges, and recognise that education and affordable housing are fundamental rights, not commodities.

Delhi University’s repeated changes to the exam datesheet have turned the entire examination process into chaos for students. Even after revising schedules multiple times, DU has still failed to properly accommodate students, especially this year, when 4th year students are appearing for exams for the first time under the New Education Policy.
Instead of planning in advance for the increased number of students, the administration has left students confused, stressed, and uncertain till the very last moment. Examination centres are being shuffled, schedules are clashing, and many students still do not know how basic arrangements will be managed.
What makes this worse is that exams have even been scheduled on Sundays, completely disregarding students’ personal circumstances, travel issues, and mental exhaustion. Students are not machines that can simply adjust every time the administration fails to plan properly.
If DU knew that the introduction of 4th year examinations would increase pressure on infrastructure and accommodation, why was there no proper preparation beforehand? Repeatedly changing datesheets is not “management”, it reflects administrative failure at the cost of students’ academic and mental well-being.
Students deserve clarity, stability, and accountability, not confusion and last-minute chaos every semester.

Students' lives are not worth anything in DU!
Numerous cases of infrastructural collapse are coming out from DU colleges and departments. Fees are hiking every year, and infrastructure, where the money should go, is not improving at all.
Shame on DU!
