Proving its mettle, the commando team of the ITBP won the prestigious all-India police commando competition. ITBP had the privilege of preparing professionally trained special commando units in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which were deployed to safeguard the 1982 Asian Games and later to secure the CHOGM and NAM meetings in New Delhi.

Team ITBP won 28 medals at the 22nd All India Police Water Sports Competition in Una, HP.

The hard work of team ITBP proved victorious at the 23rd All India Police Band Competition at BTC ITBP, Bhanu, when it clinched the overall best trophy.
