Dirty water wars: Why it’s Delhi versus Haryana on Yamuna’s ammonia levels The issue is a long-standing one between Haryana and Delhi. It is brought into focus every time the concentration of ammonia increases in the river.

NGT's directions are finally being implemented. Setting up small STPs in parks, use of treated waste water+closure of bore-wells is happening. DDA and local bodies have issued tenders for a slew of activities. Objective is saving use of over-exploited ground water.

Visited 24 acre New Friends Colony park. Water polishing unit is converting 30 BOD waste water to 10 BOD for watering.
2nd visit was to DDA's 10 acre Tughlaquabad recreation centre. A better-maintained park. Mini STP is treating waste water for irrigating park.

Members of the Yamuna Monitoring Committee of NGT inaugurated a constructed wetland system to treat 10-15 MLD raw sewage discharged from Kilokari drain into the Yamuna. 10 more constructed wetland systems would be ready for onsite bio-remediation of nearly 1500 MLD by April 2021.

One can see the Yamuna from the island so created at Batla House/Dhobi ghat.

A constructed wetland has been built by and Prof. Babu(CEMDE) at Batla house area. It will treat 15-20 MLD raw sewage.
Will be operational in 10-15 days. Massive garbage dump excavated and redesigned as an island/embankment for the wetland.

Who will believe this is sewage being cleaned through natural filtration? People in Kalindi who smelt only sewage from Kilokiri drain now have 4 large water bodies - clean, natural and an open invite migratory birds!
