AGI extended its support for the Post-Budget Webinar 2025-26 on the Theme Investing in Economy: PM GatiShakti Data for the Private sector.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered a special address in the Post-Budget Webinar via video conferencing.

Shri Vinay Thakur, PhD ( विनय ठाकुर), Sp DG, Bisag N, set the context for sharing data with the private sector through NGDR, kickstarting the panel discussion.

Moderated by AGI President Nikhil Kumar, the panel discussion featured Esri India MD Agendra Kumar, NeoGeoInfo Technologies Pvt Ltd CEO Sreeramam G V, Trimble Inc. Director Anand Sirohi, Hexagon India VP VinayBabu Adimulam, arahas CEO Saurabh Rai, and SECON Director Deepak Awari.

The PM GatiShakti - National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP), launched by Honorable Prime Minister in 2021, targets enabling a coordinated approach for infrastructure planning and development by leveraging advanced technology and decision support systems. Budget 2025-26 announced access of selected data layers and tools to the private sector using the National Geospatial Data Registry (NGDR) and the Unified Geospatial Interface (UGI).

This landmark initiative focused on improving access to data will pave the way for new applications in various sectors, more extensive collaboration, and unprecedented innovation.

The Post-Budget webinar focused on these and other aspects, discussing infrastructure and investment planning, impact on transport, logistics, and other sunrise sectors, role of NGDR and UGI, potential for citizen-centric applications, and boost to employability, EoDB, and ease of living.

| The Association of Geospatial Industries (AGI) hosted the Investors Roundtable on Unlocking the Geospatial Potential on January 30, 2025, at India International Centre, New Delhi.

Organized in association with Geospatial World and under the guidance of the Geospatial Data Promotion and Development Committee (GDPDC), the event brought together key investors, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore the immense opportunities in India’s rapidly growing geospatial sector.

With the National Geospatial Policy 2022 driving adoption, geospatial technologies are revolutionizing industries like agriculture, transportation, logistics, energy, and healthcare—paving the way for a trillion-dollar digital economy by 2030. Innovative business models such as SaaS platforms and data-driven services make this sector a goldmine for investment.

This roundtable facilitated vital discussions on the sector’s strategic growth, investment potential, and integration with India’s digital transformation journey.

| AGI President Nikhil Kumar was part of the Private Sector Network Session on Strengthening UN-GGIM Agenda – Industry’s Role and Its Perspectives at the 13th UN-GGIM-AP Plenary Meeting in New Delhi on 28 November 2024, hosted by the Survey of India.

The panel discussion brought together Academic and Professional Geospatial Societies Networks under the leadership of the Private Sector Network to dialogue on how thematic networks can support the delivery of the UN-GGIM agenda. It explored how, moving forward, a collective ecosystem where both public and private sectors collaborate will be vital for achieving the UN-GGIM objectives and ensuring sustainable development through geospatial solutions.

Mr. Nikhil Kumar talked about how the private sector can contribute more effectively to advancing the UN-GGIM agenda, particularly in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through geospatial technologies. He also shed light on some key challenges and opportunities for the private sector in engaging with Member States on geospatial initiatives.

| AGI is excited to announce the Defence Committee members for 2024-26, chaired by Major General ramesh padhi and co-chaired by AGI Senior Vice President Sreeramam G V.

The committee aims to address the critical need for enhanced Geospatial technology adoption in the Indian defence sector with a 360-degree consultative approach, considering the immense potential of advanced location intelligence in solving various challenges faced by the defence forces and intelligence agencies.

The committee will recommend strategies to address Indian defence forces' challenges using geospatial technologies, aligned with the National Geospatial Policy 2022 vision. It will also focus on strategic planning, advising on geospatial data infrastructure, and facilitating industry participation.

AGI recently hosted an exclusive interaction between GDPDC Chair Mr. Srikant Sastri and AGI members on the present and future of Geospatial technologies in New Delhi.

Mr. Sastri highlighted demand generation as one of the primary focus areas for the GDPDC, including building business beyond the government, how to generate demand from the private sector, and how to bring offshore business for the Geospatial industry - all aligned with the overarching vision of the National Geospatial Policy 2022.

Mr. Sastri then shed light on Operation Dronagiri focused on three sectors - Agriculture, Transportation, and Skilling & Livelihoods - with government, corporate, and startup partners in 5 pilot districts. He highlighted the creation of a Geospatial data interface for seamless data sharing, potential transformation at the grassroots level in each of the three sectors with innovative use cases, and invited the Geospatial industry to participate in the pilot projects for enhanced visibility and industry expansion.

The session also saw an interactive discussion on areas like strengthening the Geospatial data and knowledge infrastructures, insights into the Policy implementation in the coming decade, successful PPP models, industry role and development, and others. AGI is excited to strengthen our partnership with the GDPDC to foster more collaborative initiatives, amplifying the industry's voice.
