It was a pleasure to felicitate the Core Team Members of ๐’๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” (๐’๐ˆ๐) held for three days and personally acknowledge their efforts in making the SIP a successful and memorable beginning for our newly admitted students at GGSIPU.

A century of the UPSC is a significant milestone in Indiaโ€™s institutional journey, an occasion to reflect on its enduring commitment to merit, integrity and excellence in public service, while looking ahead to the evolving role of civil services in a rapidly evolving Bharat. As Vice Chancellor, I believe strong institutions, ethical leadership and excellence in public service are fundamental to shaping a ๐•๐ข๐ค๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ก๐š๐ซ๐š๐ญ. At the second edition of ๐“๐ข๐„-๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ค๐ฌ ๐š๐ญ ๐†๐†๐’๐ˆ๐๐”, I had the pleasure of welcoming our alumnus, ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐€๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ๐ก ๐‰๐š๐ข๐ง, ๐…๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ, ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐ˆ๐๐‚๐€), for a conversation that went far beyond pollution control. We spoke about waste, sustainability and entrepreneurship and most importantly, about the possibilities that emerge when we look at everyday challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset.

It was wonderful to revisit a subject that has remained close to my own journey in dental education and academic leadership.

Some occasions are special not simply because of what they mark, but because of what they remind us of. After spending much of my professional life in dentistry as a clinician, teacher and researcher, it was truly meaningful to inaugurate the ๐ง๐ž๐ฐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ž๐๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐†๐ซ๐š๐๐ฎ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก (๐๐†๐ˆ๐‚๐‡), ๐๐จ๐ข๐๐š. Seeing this dedicated facility for children was a reminder of a belief close to my heart. The future of dentistry lies as much in prevention as it does in treatment.

Waste is not what we discard, it is a resource whose value we have stopped seeing. From decentralised processing and landfill remediation to empowering waste-pickers and advancing a circular economy, the way forward lies in rethinking how we plan, design and live. Our East Delhi Campus reflects this commitment through its sustainability-led infrastructure. The conference brought together distinguished dental professionals and academicians from Delhi and across the country, providing an excellent platform for meaningful discussions, knowledge sharing and exploring new developments in dentistry.
