At a time when India and Slovakia are witnessing an unprecedented level of high-level political engagement, we are proud to present a special edition of Envoy Excellency Slovakia Edition 2026.

This edition features coverage of the Slovak President’s Peter Pellegrini visit to India in February 2026 and an exclusive perspective on bilateral relations by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár Ministerstvo zahraničných vecí a európskych záležitostí SR, offering a clear view of the direction of 🇸🇰🤝🇮🇳.

🇪🇺🇳🇵 V dňoch 25. - 26. mája 2026 sa Slovensko zúčastnilo významnej diplomatickej misie veľvyslancov ČK EÚ v Nepále, ktorú organizovala Delegácia EÚ v Káthmandu.

Spolu s veľvyslancami 21 členských štátov EÚ sme rokovali s premiérom Balendrom Shahom, ministrom zahraničných vecí Shisirom Khanalom a ďalšími vysokými predstaviteľmi Nepálu o ďalšom rozvoji spolupráce medzi EÚ a Nepálom.

Diskusie sa zamerali na rozvoj ekonomiky, energetiku, infraštruktúru, klimatické zmeny, legálnu migráciu, vzdelávanie, resp. udržateľný turizmus. Slovensko zároveň potvrdilo svoj záujem ďalej rozvíjať bilaterálne vzťahy s Nepálom, najmä v oblastiach meteorológie a vodného hospodárstva, cestovného ruchu a pracovnej mobility.

Na Slovensku dnes pôsobí približne 3 200 nepálskych pracovníkov, ktorí významne prispievajú k fungovaniu slovenskej ekonomiky. Rovnako rastie aj počet slovenských turistov a horolezcov v Nepále, čo posilňuje medziľudské väzby medzi našimi krajinami. 🏔️🤝

Súčasťou rokovaní bolo aj opätovné predstavenie kandidatúry Slovenskej republiky za nestáleho člena Bezpečnostnej rady OSN na obdobie 2028 - 2029.

We kicked off our mission with a constructive exchange with Honourable Shisir Khanal, discussing the new government’s development priorities and ways to further strengthen EU–Nepal ties. 🇳🇵🇪🇺

22 Ambassadors and Deputy Heads of Mission from EU Member States have arrived in Nepal for a two-day high-level mission hosted by the EU Delegation to Nepal. Led by H.E. Véronique Lorenzo, EU Ambassador to Nepal, they will meet the new Balendra Shah Government and reaffirm the strong partnership between the EU and Nepal. 🇪🇺🇳🇵

Participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

It was a pleasure to speak to the The Economic Times about rapidly growing 🇸🇰🇮🇳 partnership and the expanding opportunities for cooperation between Slovakia, India, and the European Union. 🤝🌍
Our discussion focused on history of Indo-Slovak relations, high-level political dialogue, including regular meetings of foreign ministers and the important presidential exchanges that took place this year and last year, further strengthening mutual trust and strategic cooperation between our countries.
We also discussed green energy transformation, investments, innovation, labour mobility, advanced manufacturing, Bollywood and the strategic importance of the 🇪🇺-🇮🇳 Free Trade Agreement, unlocking new opportunities for businesses and people to people contacts.
As Slovakia and India continue to deepen cooperation, I remain confident that our partnership has significant potential across trade and investments, technology, education, AI, cybersecurity and business exchanges.
