Forest-PLUS just completed a successful technical exchange visit on measures for improved forest management in India. We were fortunate to have great community support from the women of Doi and the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department for the officers from the USFS, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Sikkim Forest Departments who participated. Thanks also to the former USAID staff & project implementers, SUNY ESF, and the Forest-PLUS team for your thoughtful participation and help.

Wood is Good
The promotion of use of wood obtained from sustainably managed trees and forests can play a positive role in mitigating climate change through sequestration of carbon and creating a pool of long-life products (such as door frames and windows) that delay its release back into the atmosphere. Research has shown that wood-framed buildings are more environment-friendly than concrete- and steel-framed buildings.
